Wheel spin
05/16/09 6:38 AM

At first I thought my clutch was slipping but I had my buddy ride behind me and my wheel spins as soon as I hit about 6200rpm in first gear he said you can see it smoke the tire it doesn't fishtail or anything hence the reason I thought it was the clutch. Has anyone else had this happen? Would lower tire pressure help? Or is this just the nature of the beast?

What rear tire are you using? How near the end of it's life is it? They get slicker toward the end of their useful treadlife. Next time around maybe go with a stickier compound. That usually means shorter treadlife unfortunately. I run a Michelin Pilot Road 2 CT rear and don't spin, mine bites well and power wheelie's instead.

It's the stock tire the bike has about 2600 miles on it

Mine did that with the stock bt014's switched to the bt016's and it completely stopped, like stated above now it just power wheelies!

If this bike did not perform like this ^^^^ I would find a bike that does. Use a higher gear so you dance the front off into the air < Sorta trim the rear spin.
