Magazine 2013 Busa
08/11/13 8:28 AM

I get sport rider magazine, and this month on the cover they have the 2013 yellow busa on it. Well they like to dyno the bikes stock then afterwards they get the full brocks package on them and see what the bikes pull then, and then they go to the track. Well just last month they had the 14r do the samething (and they brought up the 14r like 15 times in the busa's article). Anyway on the dyno after the brocks package (pipe pc5, and brocks map) the 14r pulled 203hp and 119tq. Well this month they put the busa on their dyno with brocks full package and it pulled 175hp and 100tq. DAMMMMMMMMM that's nice, 28hp and 19tq down on the 14r. And believe me they brought up the difference in power. The same guy who raced the 14r raced the busa down the track, and he said what a difference the 14r is to the busa. He said once halfway down the track it's hard to stay on the 14r,and even harder to bring your feet up to shift into second gear because of the torque pulling you down the track, as where the busa was much easier going down the track with less power. At the end of the day on the 14r he was in the 9.2's all day and at 156mph. On the busa his best pass was a 9.5 at 148mph. Now that's 8mph faster and .3tenths quicker in a 1/4 mile. Imagine you sitting on your bike stopped and have a friend on his bike go past you at 8mph. That's how the 14r pulls past a busa, and that IS ONLY in the 1/4 mile, it keeps getting worse out on the street past that. And when they said to the Suzuki guys how they were upset that all they did to the busa was add new brakes, their answer was (No matter what kawi brings out we always out sell them with the busa) Man if I owned a busa and wanted Suzuki to step to the plate to compete with the new 14r, I would be pissed off at that statement. So gotta love 28hp and 19tq more on the street, man that's nice boys, mother kawi did real good this time, real good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

having owned the big suzuki before my plan was to climb back on a new one in 2013.the dealer had the yellow busa and the black zx sitting next to each other.after sitting on both i decided to ride the zx,it was a quick ride as my mind was made up before hand.the busa felt much heavier, mainly top heavy the balance between the two was night and day.straight line top speed comes second to performance in the twisties for me so i knew the zx was the new bike for me just sitting on it.after owning the zx for four months it is now in my top 5 bikes.

This bike is seriously like the Michael Jordan of large displacement sport bikes. Kawasaki loved the game so much, they changed it. They elevated it. They lifted the 14R STRAIGHT PAST WHAT WE ALL EXPECTED. This bike IS STILL SLAPPING PEOPLE IN THE FACE. Almost three years in and it's TRUE potential is only just being tapped. This is a landmark motorcycle. A landmark vehicle. A landmark form of personal transportation that does things like no other EVER before it. POWER HANDLING BRAKING REFINEMENT POWER.

That other thing was just a really fast bike.

And here she is...2013 Hayabusa....not so bad methinks

I wouldn't really want one this color...but it does have a certain appeal;)The Deep Blue one is pretty nice....

I've been 'mulling' this over in my head my last couple of rides..."What about changing to a Harley?"....

The 'why' of this question is the first thing that hits me.WHY?Image?"To fit in"....They are beautiful actually....BUT....what the heck would I do with it once I got it?There's NO WAY I could ride a Harley like I do my Ninja. And that's the whole shebang right there.I seriously doubt the ride quality on the Harley could ever match the feel and quality of my big inline. The shifting. The Powering up.The weight.Nah....no Harley for me....I'll pass.I was riding along...cruising at 65 in 5th...3,600 rpm...thinking.Enjoying.Soaking in the bike's feel.I'm ruined for life!I can't see myself EVER switching motorcycles. This baby is it for me.Why look elsewhereThe idea of being 'one of the pack' sorta thing just doesn't get it for me...I LIKE riding out and away from everything.Ahead of everything....passing everything....railing.Powering.Downshifting...ripping.Leaning.Braking.Lofting.Cruising as smooth as glass. She's an amazing bike....just amazing.NOTHING can match the rideability of this bird...nothing.

Yeah green don't get me wrong, I had a busa and with them set up right I think they are a good looking bike that's for sure. The yellow one in person is not that bad looking at all.

Yeah, not bad....I think she looks better in that pic than the one I saw in real life at the showroom...I like yellow bikes but I think they got to complicate dwith the design. All yellow would be a big improvement but the stickers look like crap on that busa. Those would need to come off quick.

Well this month they put the busa on their dyno with brocks full package and it pulled 175hp and 100tq. DAMMMMMMMMM that's nice, 28hp and 19tq down on the 14r.

That IS one big vote of confidence for 14r owners. I was crushed to learn the busa had a couple extra tq and a few hp on the Gen 14. So bad I had to go out and buy a busa. It turned out to be nothing. I like the busa but prolly not the best choice for a second bike since I already had the 14. Live and learn...

when they said to the Suzuki guys how they were upset that all they did to the busa was add new brakes, their answer was (No matter what kawi brings out we always out sell them with the busa)

This is true. There is a bigger following for the busa and I think for Suzuki in general over Kaw. The Gen2 busa does have some fit and finish superiority and minor performance parts and design that the 14 lacks. It might just be a slightly more refined bike. Nothing wrong with being a little on the raw side to me. The farther you go into High Performance the farther you get from smooth.

the 14r pulled 203hp and 119tq

...now expect Suzuki to come out with a busa that will make 208hp and 120 tq. I predict about 5 years. They don't need to improve until sales start dipping a little to the 14r. This is the way out all played out back in 06-08. The busa went unchanged for about 9 years while Kawi struggled to develop new bikes that would steal a few busa customers.

Was the 14r a big enough update? IDK??? Looks like KAw did what it needed to do to the zx-10r. Hope an extra 28 hp and tc / ABS is enough of a revolution. I'll wait to see what the racing community says about it. I'm still waiting for this mythical supercharged ZX-15 to come out. That will be a history making move if Kawi can ever do it. Man that be something if Suz beats them to it....what with Kaw already making a 1500cc supercharged watercraft motor...downright embarrassing for Kaw. so doitdoit doit DO IT!!!!!

You know...while I was riding yesterday...I stopped at my little spot off the road there...and drank my Monster Kona Blend...had some of my cigar...and watched the Harley folks cruise by just a hundred yards out on the highway there. All that Chrome....then it hit me...my Ninja is SO easy to clean up...to be ready to roll.I had to smile....yeah...I might be the minority up here...but I like that.Having an easily maintainable motorcycle that looks killer...and runs killer...No pretense...just awesome performance and ease of keeping.Nah...they can keep their Chromed Out Steel steeds. They see that maw coming up in their rear views...you can see em...lookin in their mirrors...then...the wave by.Never fails....funny as shit and SO predictable.Sometimes I just ride up 'next' to em...while passing of course...and just let em look at the big bird. Then I'm off and away.Happy again to have made my choice;)

Rook said.."It might just be a slightly more refined bike"..I can't agree...any bike you have to remove the fairings and pipes to get the oil filter out...nah...that tells me...WHAT were they thinking?Kawasaki made it SO simple...and that's just ONE little thing. It's superior to the Busa...totally...even the new ones.JMO.

This Ninja will as we know...cruise in 6th at 120 all day long...smooth as silk...and not even begin to breath.Drop er down into 5th,or 4th...and she remains smooth as glass....strong....smooth.I couldn't get any other bike...no way.

It's a perfect day here for a ride...but I have my work today...so...I'll just have to do my job,and wish I were out there....strafing the suckers and rollin hard. You guys be safe today....;)

Yeah I disagree with rook also. The new 14r is soooo much smoother stock for stock vs the busa, not even really close to be honest with you. The 14r is the most refined sportbike on the market. And it is marketed for that also. Hell guys use them to tour all over the place.

That's funny grn! I drink that shit too, its good when I'm not at home to use my French press! As fer the Harley thing, I can tell you have had it on ur mind. Get it off. They are a joke. They suck. They handle like shit. They brake like shit. I took a 2010 Fat Bob and did a 103cu kit and v&h straight fucking duals a solid tune, upgraded brakes, tires, suspension, etc. and the only fuckin thing it was, was faster than other pieces of shit.
Don't even fuckin go there. You will want to cut ur dick off. I sold it to a pig. Straight up. He deserved every nut and bolt. He got Harley as perfect as I could make it, and I couldn't fucking wait to get it gone. Glad I got that out of my system. I made that race air filter cover out of a stop sign. :)))

LOL!!!I agree...totally...yeah...I wasn't seriously considering it...just musing.I'd never be happy riding one.I'd ALWAYS be wanting my spaceship...always.I wanted to go to the dealer and see if I could get a 'test ride' on their upper midsized Softails...just to see if they've done any comfort quality feel to em....Shifting wise...vibration wise...hat stuff. Then this AM I heard on go by outside...with it's familiar...CRUNCH as he shifted. No thanks."To be cool"....geez...not me."Make it yer own"...that's what they say.Yeah....how come they all look alike here? And drive alike. And dress alike. And crash alike?Nah....I'm cool with my "jap Crap" thank you.SO easy to rail...so easy to brake...so easy to shift. So easy to have a blast on.So easy to make her..."my own"....hell...there aint any around here for 2000 miles!LOL!!!

As a present Busa owner. My 14leaves the garage 3 times more than the busa does, the 14 is so much easier to ride and so much smoother, you can seat of the pants feel it just pulling you into the next dimension where my Busa just feels fast, hence the name pretty boy cause it looks good to thre eye, but the 14 has thr name Reaper, I don't think I need to explain that one, MMUUAAHHAHAHA!!

Now bobby imagine you had the new 14R and had 20-25hp more. You would actually get back in from your first ride on it and slowy walk by the busa in the garage and look at it for just a moment, go inside.........and less then a minute later would come back out and kick that busa off it's kickstand onto it's side

Exactly right on the Harley!! Hell, I've got a 2013 CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide!! I got it in January and you know how many miles it has on it today! 551 that's it. I can't walk out into my garage and ride that thing with my 14R sitting there! Just can't do it! Shit, it's a $38,000.00 bike, the highest end Harley you can buy and I'm like...nope!! HA HA!! I'm gonna sell it because it's just gonna sit there. Absolutely no comparison.

come back out and kick that busa off it's kickstand

Hey ZX14racer. That was funny as shit. I just pictured that happening and giggled like a school boy (in an evil "Chucky" kind of way).
In the beginning when I was considering the 07, over my ZX11, it was a little bit like it was taunting me, "come on.... do it! I dare you!". After an intimate encounter with a 35 tonne excavator, bikes were almost off the cards for life. I needed a reason, a motivator, a passion, a distraction, a present to myself just for surviving. Well most people that know me know better than to dare me. So I bought the bad boy, and right from the start it had the capacity to scare the shit out of me (in an exciting kind of way) and take my breath away when I was exploring its capability. After doing that enough and getting used to it, it doesn't scare the shit out of me quite the same, but it most certainly does still take my breath away. After injecting my own personality and passion into it, not only did it still take my breath away, but most who stopped to admire it.
Enter the Gen2. More refined, a changed appeal, more power, more features, a totally renewed enthusiasm and a renewed passion.
I just can't get enough of it. I can't wait until every time I ride it, and every time I take my hand to it, it'll give me that feeling you get when you slip your hand down some chicks panties for the first time.
Faaark I love these things!!!!! Just try and get that anywhere else. I dare you!!!!

Let me breathe and clear my throat, wild rumours in the air about shit I wrote
It begins with Z and ends with X, smooth as silk, and wild like sex
My zx appears amidst a pale full moon, bitches wet, honies swoon
At full mast, I stand erect, engins ready no disrespect
Glimer hope fades, my clothes a tear, out the wolf, mounts his stead, breaks his mare...

Thanks for the rez and accolades, ZX64man, is an equal on this writing stage
But writing is what I love to do, even if by profession I run a crew
So ZX racer, mad props and nods, stage is set, I bring my brawn
Bitch ass writers I love em all, Sweet65 writes mad tall

Love to write, swear I do, nothing lost, nothing due...
Lets collect the tax, smack that ass, smoke some strawberries from C Blast's glass...
Homies I have mad love for you, mad skills you have, in contrast, I have just few
So appreciate, all ya all, my gifts are the ride, and the bedroom ball

I sat on the operating table as they applied the clear wrap to my back..."What's that for?" "Mr. Wolf, in case we have to emergency access your heart." It's not every day that at 38, with one kid here and one "on the way" that one goes in for open heart surgery. I signed the form, readied myself, gathered all the insurance papers and prepared myself to confront my God! Had I lived a good life? Had I accomplished what my maker placed me here to do? Was I just a place holder, bridging the road like a slippery transition between exit and highway? As the oxygen mask neared and left my peripheral field of sight and it came to settle on my cheeks, I thought to myself, "Do I have regrets?" What is it, that I had not accomplished. I signed the form, watched my heart on the monitor, and felt the cool alcohol disinfectant blush my chest like a hooker's pierced tongue. Ground control to Major Tom, seat belts fastened, trays up right. The needle traveled clear fluid through the IV and I felt myself becoming completely surrounded by a waft of stillness, yet a deep sunken feeling overcame me, like a man, deeply submerged in the great abyss! Like an alcoholic high, I was inside my head, and beyond my body! No sound, and the light had grown dim.

As I followed the white light that became a kaleidoscope of colour, viewed it tunnel my senses like the crescent of a half moon, I found myself gazing at my maker. A tall leathered face, white haired man, with a weathered motorcycle jacket. He stood above me. As he spoke the cigarette in his mouth bobbed in cadence with his deep resonating voice. "Wolf," he said, "Im not ready for you, this is not your time, but I am going to send you back with a request!" I presumed it was God, and so I felt my head become heavy as I indicated eagerly with a nod. "You, wolf, must reign terror on the GTA and restore the ZX14's rightful place as the top food chain predator, upon your shoulders wolf, this is my command!" And his word is my bond!

I shall obey, and I will not fail my maker! By the witnesses of Beelzebub I shall reign that terror!
I can only thank my boyz on this site, that got me there!
