What Do You Carry?
05/13/12 11:29 PM

I'm just curious what everyone carries with them when they ride, and where do you carry it? I realize we all ride differently, some just take short rides to there favorite twisties and others do alot of trips or LD riding.

I carry:

Rain Gear
Spare Visor
Tire Plugs and Tools
Small Air Pump
Spare Gloves
Towel and Spray for Visor

I carry it in Givi saddle bags. Can also fit it in a tail pack.

I normally ride longer distances, usually about 200 or so miles. I normally get to hit the twisties about once a week and the extrea weight of the bags don't affect handling at all.

I normally ride at least 300 miles or more each time I ride, not counting to work sometimes. I pretty much carry what you do, Kevin

If I'm overnighting the list gets longer. It gets only a tiny bit longer if I'm gone multiple days. I'm gone 9 days on my Arkansas trip, but plan on washing at the hotel mid-way through the trip, or more as needed.

A ten-pack of unlubed condoms.

They make nice finger gloves in case you need to work on your scoot out on the road.

Smitty, apparently not too many of the ZX14 folks actually sport tour. Heh.

Cooter, where do you carry lunch? The most I've ever seen you wearing while riding is shorts and a tank top and helmet.

Rain gear?? Twistys?? I thought you had to be over 70 to "sport tour"! This is Vegas baby. The roads are long and straight and because of budget restraints, hardly any Highway Patrol. It's 100 today with 30 mph winds! I prefer the Walther PPK/S. Small, compact, reliable. Smith and Wesson (an American company) owns them and whats good enough for Mr. Bond is good enough for me.

Hey Smitty,

Seriously, I carry nearly the same as you on shorter rides, but replace the small air pump with CO2 cartridges and add small first aid kit. Can get all that in a tank bag, BTW, except the extra face sheild and full rain gear..

On the longer rides or overnight(s), I'll add the pump and full rain gear, simple radio, gps and tunes, tablet, and I used to carry 2m fm amateur radio but now a cell phone will do. Of course cleaner and chain wax needed for longer journeys as well. Also add a larger first aid kit for longer trip

Now, as for that other carry question, I'd like to take along a Mag Research 45-70 mag BFR; but, damn, that puppy is heavy and hard to conceal! If I carry it shoved down the front of my pants, it really attracts unwanted attention. LOL.

May have to trade it in for a mouse gun like the short barreled Ruger 454 Casull, favored by Alaskan fisherman as bear insurance.

Model 29 my ass!

Heh, heh. ".the giant rabid kangaroo" . Copy that. How sad,a worthy opponent near extinction!

I for one would love to visit Australia. My best buddy has visited at least once and is going again in a year or two.
He has some misplaced relatives from England living "down under" and he thinks the world of the country.

But, didn't the authorities ban guns and crocodile outlaws a few years ago?

Some other net posters are residents and send pictures sometimes of the scenery; sounds like you frequent a place called Amberlights that's a hot spot for bikes, and the coastal hwy is a good ride?

Yes mate there are some good rides here around Adelaide.
The Amberlight is a pretty good bike friendly cafe, even though the owner rides a Harley.Sad isn`t it . although we will prevail upon his sensibilities one day.
The bike scene here is very active because we are only a few minutes away from the Adelaide hills which are full of twisties on varying quality roads.Biggest problem is we are are haunted by the law who think anyone on a bike is fair game.
I guess if we are sensible about where we go for it we are ok.
Just takes some of the fun out of it.Try to come to OZ we are a friendly lot.
