Nick Ienatsch told me he wrote a review for Cycle World. It may be in that issue. Said he loved the bike and hoped to get one soon. -bg

Sorry for the kinked necks... forgot to turn scans 2 & 3 before uploading.

Issue should be on news stands Feb. 7th.

Hi BG.Nick Lenatsch..ya...great rider. When I first started riding my zx12R...his book..."Sportriding Techniques"..I think it was...still have it here..ya....most excellent book. That is an excellent write up.Nicely done.Got some more miles on my bike yesterday...now up to 400+.She's doing just great.Got a video filmed also.Came out good.Cold here yesterday...30 degrees.Had my Ktrc on "1"...just to be on the safe side Had er up to 170+ in a spot or two.5th gear..She didn't 'limit' even into redline....I backed out at about 11,500???Amazing bike this is.

Dogo:

Thanks for posting the article!

Grn:

Does sound like an amazing bike. Yeah, Nick is a great guy. Lead instructor at the Yamaha Champions School. You should check out FasterSafer.com -- a new website from Nick and Ken Hill. There a short write-up about it in the Track Days forum. Stay safe!

Thanks BG..I will check it out!You stay safe as well my brother!Just an aside here...it's been mentioned a couple of times in these mag reviews concerning "head shake"....I think they are presenting a naturally occurring phenomenon with sportbikes of any displacement in the wrong light. My experiences so far with the new bike and "headshake" feels to me like every other sportbike I've had. It's not your "classic" tankslapping type of deal.It isn't extreme. It's only IMO the pilot's trying to control the frontend while gassing and lifting.I noticed it on a few takeoffs from a rolling start.I found that NOT trying to grab hard(which is difficult with this bike)allowed the frontend to lift and stay stable. On lifting AND returning to the road.It was ONLY when I tried to gas er and "pull" the frontend up that it wiggled a bit.Nothing that a sportbike won't do with hard acelleration and wheel skip on the frontend. When I allowed her to come up on her own...she was as stable as can be...NO DRAMA.I don't think this bike needs a damper, just as I didn't need one on my other bike. She's very stable.

Why would you do that?

Because I wanted to?

It's dumb questions like these that made my decision to go easy. Thanks for reminding me.

Hoyer says it's not canyon compliant as much as a busa? I can't tell if that camera is waving or grn is wiggling the bars? The brakes fade? We knew that with one pass at a few hundred feet. Same trans, so I hear that hard bang. The bike looks like it wigs. Nick says it steers well. I didn't read where it went wide in that article?

Hoyer Editor notes noted the bike as a busa that was a 14 in a busa kind of way. And grn edited every post in this thread neurotic no?

RE: CYCLE WORLD WRITE UP

I'd ask Rook to comment on the handling between the two. I'm sure he [editor] is more thinking light bike, race handling. I'm not saying those piles handle. I'm just saying, most likely the guy feels it is more flickable? It's been too long since 1999. It was impressive back then both with the brakes and how you could pop the back up in the air on a stoppie. So, light is more his feel? I'm going to take a guess.

Let me just say, I've worked with a few and they more are not too objective out the gate? So, to me, that bias is so-so, I hear this or that in the rags. They may have grown up with so and so bike, or had this bike and it brings back? Hey, look at the bike, not what you keep comparing way back when. Yeah, so they may be cycling into the 80's or 90's era?

The one rag says wide, Nick says it rides? The factory says it improves handling and Nick says zip? Bunch of busrides!

30 degrees

Ouch! I don't usually go out unless it's in the 50's or better. (I'm a wuss...)

Some think that those break-in limits aren't the right way to go, anyway. I wouldn't worry about it... -bg

For some reason...I've always thought that those limits were actually intended to give the pilot time to get used to the bike...not for the engine's sake.IDK if that's true....but they DO run each motor on their factory dyno before shipping.I am guessing that the rings are actually fairly well set before they leave the building.IDK.I always seem to be 'out of sync' with my Kawasakis.I broke my 07 in by the book. This one...no.But with the new engine upgrade...I'll probably never know if she's making max HP.I've nothing here to compare her with!MAYBE....a dyno on this baby this time around?Green means GO!!!!! WHHHHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Darryl...I like em.Hard to tell actually with the temps as they are...but they hold on well....so far.

I wanted to be totally objective with my bike...as I said I would.Okay...there is ONE deal I'm erked at.My left mirror....when I'm at 150+ it seems to lose a bit of it's clarity.Okay...so my bike's NOT the Holy Grail that I thought it was.On the 'plus' side though...it cleared right up once I got into the 170's.Pretty important IMO to be able to see what might be behind ya.
