I currently have a Tom Tom Go 720 mounted on my bike...Bright daylight washes out the display almost completely.. Is anyone using a GPS that has a more vibrant display that they like?

Hey Jeffreyb

I use the Garmin Quest and have not had any issues with the screen being washed out. I have my unit mounted to my steering column. This does benefit the display and help prevent washout (shadowed by your body & the wind shield), but even with the sun directly over head I have not had any problems.

I use my Motorola Droid phone with the motorola gps mount stuck to the center display, still can see the temp gauge and fuel gauge. I have a smoked wind screen and have no trouble seeing it in bright daylight.

I use a stem mount with a tomtom one XL. It does wash out in direct sunlight but the ram mount allows a bit of rotation and different angles so its hardly ever a problem

I know all too well about the short battery life. So I installed a 12 volt lighter style outlet and just use the car charger that came with the mount.

Garmin ZUMO 550 here, with GXM30 smart XM antenna add on, so I get alerts on traffic and weather and even one day it will start with a detour statement and change to the chartplotter to take me around what ever it doesn't think is safe.

Love my 550, I get like 3 second re-calculations on route changes instead of the 10 seconds my Nuvi takes. So now the 550 rides in my car when not on the motorcycle.

The mount on the bike attaches to the left on the clutch lever's attachment, and the permanent wiring I hooked up to the left side driving light, which comes on when you turn the key on.
