Flies out without remap?
10/12/09 6:31 PM

I have read some articles where people say that they wouldnt crank there bike without a power commander after they pulled the flies out. Others where they just pulled them and everything worked fine. Has anyone pulled them and not done a new map? How can a stock map adjust for NOS but not for a simple mod like pulling the flies? Also what is the concept that some people have of the leaner you run a bike the faster it goes? 14.7- 1 is obviously perfect for emmissions but no race car in the world is running a mixture that high. Someone help a brother out

The only way your really going to know is by having it tuned. I would NEVER spray a bike w/o having a fuel management device, but hey...it's your bike do what you want.

^^^Cool. how did he do that blue type?

Mahikilr, The G2s are rich enough everywhere that you won't be running too lean without a remap. I ran my G2 without a PC and flies out for a few thousand miles. To tell you the truth, I'm not certain the map I have now is for flies out or not. Just pulling the flies did not make much of a change in the power. The new map seemed to smooth out the power curve and make pulling flies a little more worth while. Still not a huge change.

If you have a G1, I think you should remap because they are probably not set up to handle all that extra air coming in. Pulling the flies on a G1 will definitely be noticeable.

I have never heard of anyone running any kind of boost on the stock map. I think you may be mistaken if you believe you heard that.

I was talking to a guy the other day and he was saying that you could spray up to 40 horses on a dry kit. (but he was the guy selling it so obviously he had a motive) and that it wouldnt be a problem. Also what is the difference between the G1 and G2? Flies out really didnt help that much?

I do not know much about boost. I would post some questions in the turbo section to ask about remapping for that. Bad in Black would be able to tell you about it and 1bad would know. Slowninja should be able to tell you about that kind of setup too. It just seems highly questionable that anyone would want to introduce that much air into the system with out remapping. I would guess the motor would run poorly and cook at the same time.

G1 - Flies open at 6K, pretty doggy below that. You won't even hit 6K all that much on the street so you are in old dog mode almost all the time but when you have the opportunity to let it rip, it will scare the p!zz out of you once the flies open.

G2 - Flies open 100% at 3.5K. Seems to work just fine for street riding and drag racers seem to often like to leave the G2 flies in for a controllable launch. I pulled mine on my G2 and there was no big dif. The bike had plenty of power from idle but when I hit 3 - 3.5K, I felt a surge of power that came on without openning the throttle more than already open. It is not a dangerour surge but it is a bit annoying. After adding PC with Fuel Moto map, the powerband felt more smooth but the surge is still there to some degree.

G2 also has stronger frame, 8 hole spray injectors instead of 6, revised piston/combustion chamber, 3 catatytic converters instead of 2 (and you will always have the 1 in the header unless you switch to full system or rip the cat out as some have done), is 11 lbs heavier than G1 and makes a bit less peak hp than G1.

Yes. G1 was 2006 and 2007. G2 was March 2008 onwards, in South Africa.

I just took my flies out seems to be running much better. Once I get a power commander I'll fully tune her to pump gas and race gas.
