So what is the hp. gains and the benefits for removing the flies? and is it really worth it? What are the disavantages?

Depends on the year. '06/'07 huge difference, '08/'09 don't waste your time!

Also there is NO horsepower gain. You just get into the torque curve at a lower RPM.

I'd say try a PC first and if the remap doesn't make the low end feel smoother, you might want to try pulling them. Simply removing the flies on my 08 made very little, if any change. Then I installed my PC and there was a noticeable improvement in power delivery from idle to 3.5 K. That's what I was hoping for. I don't know if it was just the PC or the flies out /PC combo.
