On 15-6 of the manual, Inner cover removal, What do the hooks look like? Once the bolts are removed, it still feels pretty solidly attached. I do not want to just yank it off unless i am supposed to. There appears to be very little wiggle room to twist it out of place.
Do I just pull straight up and the hooks will come undone? The photo in the manual leads me to believe that as well.

This is for a 2012 model.

WHAT part of the 'fairing' are you talking about.If it's the ram duct covers..you 'wiggle/pull' straight forward with it...not much room to move it forward...but you kinda wiggle it...but DO NOT PULL UPWARDS...it slides out...going forward.You see the 'outline' in the manual for the tabs under there...4 of em....the only way to release from the fairing is moving(sliding) the piece towards the front.It'll slide...but not very much cause of the instrument cluster...you just have to get it angled just a bit.

Inner Fairing right under the bars. they are on either side of the dashboard. According to Brock's pdf, I am supposed to pull them towards the forks. I am in class right now but will try it later this afternoon.

Yes...you pull them forward...do not lift!It'll clear(the tabs) once the front part(where the one bolt attaches it to the side of the meter area) is gently shifted from the cluster area.Not much room right there..but it will move enough.

CAUTION...it's that tab connecting to the tank cover slot that normally will break.Just apply light pressure to that slot(so it doesn't crack or break off of the tank cover),the tab will pop free(sliding it towards you as you manipulate the part).Long as you're not lifting that piece,the tabs will be okay sliding.It's actually easier to see how the thing comes out...when you go to reinstall....Notice how you're sliding the part back in...that's exactly how you remove it.(the next time that is).

Those Tabs are a pain in the butt I grinded mine off with a dremel and now the covers are just as easy to remove as the generation 1 models.

No just the ones that had that hook under that made them difficult to remove...with 3 bolts holding it really makes no difference as far as I can tell.

If you get into the whole side fairing removal.........Some words of wisdom.......

Those rear-facing tabs holding the grommets just above the Foreman Grills, where there knobs on the tank cover knobs snap in.....................Be extra careful with those when putting it back together. They are very easy to bust off.

And when you break them, they are part of the entire mid fairing piece. So be super careful.

Thank you all for the help. I was afraid to remove them not knowing what the tabs looked like. They came off very easy. Just a little jockeying around in that tight space. They went in even easier.

I had to get them off becaue I needed to raise the headlight aiming a little. On some of the dark back roads I need the low beams to be a little higher. The lights are so bright as stock, I turn the brights off most of the time for on coming traffic. I like to have them hit just to the end of the street where I can see.

SOA, I feel your pain on the fairings. This is my 3rd ninja, and I had to google so I didn't break anything. It's Definitely a hell of a lot different than my 2006. Besides, being overseas and breaking something is a completely different ball of wax.

I'm so thankful for forums and fellow members that have helped me through the years. I frequent a lot of forums, and this is surely one of my favorite.
