Insurance rates ?
02/05/12 11:20 AM

Called last week to see how much this beast would be to insure. Did not have a vin so i think the girl just used a zx14 for the estimate.

$1300 and change full coverage
$250.00 fire and theft which includes liability
$75.00 just liability

Right now for the 09 fz6r cost me 75.00 dollars a year.lol

How much are some of you guys paying ?

Was wondering that myself.. thanks for starting it
I'm sure by now the Insurance folks know about this bike and it's capabilities
In NYC a 6 month liability policy for my 2011 N1K costs me $340
curious what other folks are paying within the tri-state are for liability and full
If I end up the financing route, I'm afraid that the full coverage rates might be the deal breaker for me

yes with a loan sometimes they want full coverage...but friday i spoke with one dealer and he said they have ways of getting around full coverage but you pay more interest on the loan... i am planning on putting down have and take a loan for the other half... but i will take on loan on some of my assest so this way when i have payed the money back i still have my investments.

plan might be move some money to my credit union loans are 3.9% and i won't need the full comp.

so i am hoping to do the f/t/l for the 250 for 1300 i would rather ride my yamaha. lol

my bike 2009 fz6r blue book as 3250 on trade was clean and had michelin pilot road 3 tires so the dealer said 3750 and with the tax saving about 4050.... they still want 10,499.00 plus my trade... damn this bike is expensive ouch !!

so i would be going from one of the best bang for your bucks bikes to one of the most expensive.

Go figure !!

@Mark: when It's time I will try to negotiate a $13,800 OTD price with the dealer
trade with my N1K will get $5K-$5500 private sale hoping to see anywhere from $7200-$8K
Hoping to sell it, will make the purchase a little less painful (dealer willing) and possibly just getting a personal loan for a few grand.......yup expensive but I'm sure it's worth it,, again hoping the Insurance is not a huge bite, even if it's just liability

@speed: hey don't feel bad I'm 43 and getting similar quotes anywhere from 1500-2200 for 6 month full coverage policies.... or maybe it's just NYC thing

dealer cost is about 12.800 to 12,900 but they will get a 3% kick back at years end... so find a dealer that has ordered 40 to 50 zx14r not one that has 2 or 3 coming.

kawaski took all the orders about 7/8 months ago from all the dealers and then they add about 10% for the amount of bikes they will make.... Good LUCK !!

rook..that's what i pay now for the 600 yamaha, my agent said that would not change much... but the fire and theft would be 157.00 and the collision close to 700.00 dollars extra.

ahhh- I see. Perhaps you have different mandatory coverages in your state.

We have to cover the other vehicle for damage, property damage, and of course other people's death and injury. Comp is optional as well as covering your own injury.

Yes in New York you can run just the liability. but the insurance covers your passenger not the driver for injury.

Which seems alittle wacked !

Full coverage in Oregon w/no blemishes on the driving record with State Farm is $600 per year. I will be 68 this month. Ran my 08 to 49240 miles W/O collision because I paid cash for it, but they wanted collision with $500 deductible for the 2012 because they were kind enough to loan me the cash to buy it. Got 2620 on the green 2012 and I am about to head out the door for a ride right now.

$386 / year for me with State Farm, full coverage, $500 deductible on comprehensive / collision. Car with State Farm, as is house. That helps.

When I finally buy my C14 (more expensive than 2012 ZX14) it will barely break $400 / year.

Part of my low rates is in Maryland we have at least 4 months, more like 6 months of the year we don't ride due to Winter.

Currently paying $450 a year for ZX as one vehicle in a multi-vehicle policy plus home insurance with Country Mutual. No claims in last three years, $1000 deductible on the full coverage policy. That's on the '07 but I transferred it to the '12. Don't expect it to go up much except maybe an allowance for vehicle market value although the company doesn't treat mc like cars in that regard. Country Companies treats it like a snowmobile or a boat or something; mc insurance is not their main business. I don't think you can buy just mc insurance from them.

Will get renewal in April and then I'll know if the new R is gonna cost me more to insure.

BTW, I'm also in my 60's, so I don't fall into the higher risk age bracket. This county (Lake) in Illinois is however considered a premium rate area as compared with downstate farm counties.

Geico is $1700/year - full coverage with $1,000 deductible on comp and collision. Progressive quoted about $2200 and Allstate $2900. I'm 45 with good driving record and credit rating.

The quote on my bike through State Farm was $430/year for full coverage with a $500 deductible.

I opted to carry only liability and comprehensive, also with a $500 deductible for $220/year.

I'm over 45 with a excellent driving record.

On the 2009 I just bought, I have a policy with U.S. Insurance Services. It's a 12 month full coverage policy for 723 with a 500$ deductible. So it's about 72 a month and I'm 37 with a good driving record. I didn't have to get full coverage because I paid cash and I know I'm not gonna drop it but you have to worry about everybody else on the road that might make you drop it.

I am across the river from St. Louis (IL side) and I checked a few places. I am 46, married, own a house and no tickets or accidents. Here is what I got for 25/50 full coverage with 500/500 deductibles:
All State (my current insurer for everything) - $1800/yr (WTF!!!)
Progressive - $1100/yr
Nationwide - $1400
Geico - $1000
State Farm - $789

No need to guess who I went with. Funk All State!

My 2007 14 was $275/yr with All State.

I carry $500,000 CSL on liability and uninsured/underinsured so my insurance is a bit high. Fifty one with a perfect driving record, riding motorcycles for thirty four years.

My other bikes are with Foremost, they quoted $600/year for liability with um/uim, $2200 full coverage with $500 deductible. Another company that agent looked at quoted $6000/year full coverage....

State Farm, where I have two houses and eight cars was $550/6 months for full coverage. Needless to say I went with them. Sadly, they are still cheaper on a ZX14 than they are on my Spyder, if that makes any sense to anyone.
