14R HID Upgrade
09/10/13 7:26 AM

Hi All, its been a while since Ive posted anything but I considered this a worthy opportunity...

Recently purchased a set of CoreMoto HID Headlights. Really good set, $198 bucks shipped to Australia for all six lights and ballasts... relatively easy install... little bit of shrink-wrapping, little bit of zip tying, and bloody awful fairing removal of course!! but all done, I think it came out well.

These HID's are rated 8000K which are the slightly blue tinge, but nothing too obnoxious.. they look much whiter in person than they do on camera...

Heres some before and after! Enjoy!!

Hows the beam projection while riding? Need a shot from the cockpit at night.

The beam is pretty solid, sharp cutoff due to the factory projectors. I'll get a photo tonight and post it up...

I ordered a set anyway. I was looking for an excuse. Smallest ballast was the selling point.

Yeah they were really easy to tuck away... I used some double sided tape on mine to position them, then locked them in place with some zip ties... I places mine around the hard plastic areas of the air intakes. You can fit two on the front face of the right hand side (facing bike), then on the right you can fit one on the front face and one on the side (facing bike)... I didn't take any pictures of that sorry...

But yes, the small and light ballasts are really easy to tuck into place...

Make sure you post some photos once your done!!

Looks great. I experienced very similar results from my DDM tuning kit. Haven't replaced the high beams yet, but low beam light pattern is WAY better than stock. Plus, the light dispersion to the sides makes it much easier to see critters hiding in the ditches.

Cut off is sharp due to the oem projector, as stated. I did have to raise the level up around 3-4 turns, BUT everyone should do that, since the factory set point is WAY too LOW. Mine were only aiming about 12-15' in front of the bike (stock).

I'd love to match my green running lights with a green front light theme

Wolf, HID bulbs are available in a green tint also... I was going to run green driving lights in mine, but the cops will eat you for that shit in Aus... I'm already pushing my luck with 8000K lights.

I've had the core Hid's in for a week now. They are basically a must have. I had a brain fart and ordered the blue running light led bulbs. They scream pull me over and arrest me. I took them out and ordered white ones. I have the ballasts mounted inside the side fairings.

Blue led is in the right, white in the left. The camera doesn't capture how blue it is, it matches my bike pretty good, but It's straight up cop car light blue, and I don't need to give them a reason to pull me over.

Blue in the left.
