Puig dark smoke DB

Shopped around for a wind screen for some time. It came down to the Zero Gravity DB and the Puig DB. I'v had Zero Gravity products before and there always great and fit and look was always perfect, but I decided to go with something different. I ordered the Puig DB. Thought I would post a little review on it. I'm unimpressed with the fit and mold of this windscreen. It probably wouldn't be a big deal to most ppl but I am not "most ppl". I feel like if your going to make a product (especially an appearance product for a motorcycle), it should fit and look great. For whatever reason the nose of the windscreen was rather tall, about a half inch to tall.

See picture.

the picture was with it unbolted and me holding it in place with my hand out of the shot but the height difference was even worse with it bolted in. So I got an idea to fix it and ran to the hardware store and picked up these.

See Picture.

I put three under the front two bolts between the screen and the fairing and I put one on both of the second bolts up. Managed to lower the nose of the screen down into the fairing enough to look decent.

See Picture.

The Finished fit.
See Picture.

Looks nice once I made it work (No gaps between the fairing and windscreen like you might think would happen when you install washers like that). I don't feel like I should hafta make a product fit that's already supposed to fit and that I payed good money for though. I posted this so everyone will know what to expect when they order a Puig windscreen for there 14's. My 2 cents on Puig's zx14 DB dark smoke windscreen

Have one on mine also. Like the protection just don't like the buffeting, it's a lot more pronounced than the stock screen bike moves around a lot more at speed especially in traffic. If I had to do it again would get the stock height.

I think if I had it to do over again I would go with the Zero Gravity DB. I think I might go ahead and buy one anyway and just keep the other as a spare. Looked at alot of pictures of the ZG one and it looks like it fits alot better.

Thanks for the review. I just purchased my 14 this weekend, and would like a Double Bubble. I came across the one that you ordered, and was wondering about it. I guess I will stick with the DB, and then start looking at handle bar risers.

Can you tell me how many washers you used for each bolt hole and how you inserted them??

I feel the same way about this screen! Not real aerodynamics with that lip sticking out. I ordered a Puig for my 2012 ZX14 and will have it Friday. I feel that the Puig is heavier than ZG but looks to be rounder at the top and a bit lower than ZG which may give better aerodynamics if you can get it flush with the fairing.

Thanks!!!

The washer saves the paint finish. This stays, the bolt etches over the washer = 1 washer.

If you have a problem with hole sizing under the fairing bolt, buy a tapered reamer small enough to open the hole.

I have a Puig on mine and like it. I have a black screen on black bike so it's a little harder to see the raised part on front. I think that is the design rather than a flaw, but I see your point. Would be interested to see the ZG if you do buy that too. I almost bought an MRA DB screen because I've had good luck with them in the past, but the pics for the 14 made the bubble look very high. Haven't seen one in person, may have just been a bad angle.

Not on an R, but...
