To buy or not to buy
04/19/13 3:47 AM

Been awhile since I posted anything in this forum. I moved to Germany last year and have been looking at a front stand to go with my pit bull rear stand and a better gas cap due to mine having scratches on it I hate it.... what is the peoples opinion of these two items?

Both excellent choices. I wish that stand was available when I ordered mine for the front end. I'd order a second sized pin for down the road. I have two bikes with different lower steering stem holes. I had to order both.

My test tank came without a gas cap. I bought the same cap you posted. It works. Here is what I did. I used the rain drain as overflow. I did overfill and lucky I had a hose going down away from the bike. I had a slight puddle on the floor.

The tiny hole you'll see when you remove the oe cap, I plugged that off so at the back of the tank, I do not need a hose for right side venting. The venting is in the new gas cap.

The o-ring is not recessed that deep in the cap. So you more or less have to keep an eye on that o-ring when you remove the cap. Sometimes it's on the cap, sometimes in the opening receiver side. I find fishing for the o-ring, putting it back on the cap works for me.

I also keep the gas locker hugging the opening so I do not squeeze the cap's o-ring farther than needed. The lever is out, then I reverse the cap to lock the pin in place. You'll see how it works.

Thanks for the heads up about the caps faults Hub. From the research I've done on this forum I believe I need to buy the #15 pin with that stand, is that correct?

Search for stands here. There is someone here that will discount the [pit bull] stands you mention someone's name here? That search is who's name you'll need. As far as the pin, I have two of them. I see no number stamped short of pin #2 has that number. And that is the fatter of the two. So if #2 is a pin number then you want the smaller diameter one rather than #2 if that is a number other than #15?

Yep, both are excellent choices. I had the hybrid and purchased the accessories to lift from the fork recently. I believe this one came out in 2012! Don't confuse it with the New Front Lift which is different (probably what Hub has). I also have that Vortex Gas Cap and it works and looks great. The only thing is that the black won't match you're bike perfectly but that's with most anodized blacks.
If you have the extra $$, check out Lightech and Rizoma, the only thing with the Rizoma is that it requires a key. I didn't wanna have to deal with an extra I can loose: There is nothing like being on reserve to find out, your left the gas key at the house or the last place you stopped. You could always attach it to the bike key but for some reason I like the idea of leaving the key in the ignition to get gas!

* I was under the assumption that you would need #14 pin but go to sporbiketrackgear.com and verify that.

on the Hybrid front stand. I have the predecessor, the PB fork lift stand with steering stem converter bar. There are times when lifting under the forks is better and other times when lifting by the stand is best. It's a little tricky gettingthe pin under there to fit into the steering stem but other than that, it's a snap. Put a towel over the fender when you lift by the stem. ...or at least apply tape under the bat so you don'r scratch your fender.

Nice looking cap. I'd prolly go with that if I had not already got my LightTech. Scottjkyl has had that gas cap for a year at least...I'd PM him to ask his opinion.

My pin has 14 stamped on top. Works fine. I'd def check with PitBull though.

I installed the Votex cap on mine last year after the lock in my stocker siezed and stranded me. No problems with it so far...works great!
