Looks good, Jeff.
Your setup is easily transferrable John but it would not be too hard to bend an 1/8" strip of aluminum and make one of those for each of the Kawasakis. Maybe all the bikes could be fitted as such.
A well equipped cockpit Mr. Green!
Wait til you see mine!
I have a double bubble so the radar detector mount might be next. Nastynotch scooped me on that bracket.
...I have ideas for improvements though...lightening holes, bump stoppers (like the VDS bracket) so it can't turn, some tabs for wire P-clips....

Hello Yannih, I went through the same process, looked at the Adaptive unit for bikes but it performed poorly in detection capability so decided to go with an automotive detector. After some research, I figured out I needed something with outstanding long range detection capability on Ka band radar as that is what 95% of the LEOs run here on the backroads. Laser detection was not at the top of my priorities list as I run twisty back roads and laser is a highway and freeway thing around these parts. The officer needs to brace himself from a static position to properly laze the target vehicle, you don't see this on rural roads. So after some research, I found the Uniden R3 outperforms them all, even the vaunted Escort Redine, in long distance Ka band sensitivity, so decided to go that route. Now the problem is mounting and hardwiring 8 motorcycles for power to the detector. I came up with a very simple universal solution, the dual suction cup mounts supplied by Uniden, works beautifully on a highly curved sportbike windscreen as they have a degree of articulation built into the design and I went with a 12.6 V DC power supply, 1400 mAH Lithium-Polymer battery at a feather weight 3.5 ounces. The R3 draws about 250 milliamps, so this gives me about 5 hours of riding time, more than enough.

Here is the R3 on my Ducati Panigale, takes about 30-60 seconds to set it up for a ride, battery and connector are secured with strategically located strips of industrial grade Velcro, overkill!
...and here's the Repsol Honda.

I cannot see any downside to running one of these, it's already alerted me several times to LEO in the area, had a Ka hit just this morning but I never saw him, he was probably 1 1/2 miles away in a small town up ahead, this thing can pick them up way off under the right conditions. I feel a lot more relaxed running twisties with the detector using a combination of lower speed on the straight sections, picking it up on corner entry and then dropping back again and slowing for all oncoming traffic. The only wild card is if you run into one running instant on mode in the middle of a blind corner but even then, they have to lock you up for three full sweeps to get a radar lock and that is hard to do when you are constantly turning, it's called the cosine affect and lowers the reading displayed on the gun. I studied my radar tech and they need to shoot you straight on to get an accurate reading.

Seems like a good setup, Kruz
The only annoyances I see are: Cost (meh); Having to move it from bike to bike, even if it is quick/easy (not an issue for me); Recharging batteries; ... and the possibility of it failing when needed ... kinda like relying on car/pickup backup sensors too much and then one day they don't work. But, I agree it can probably really only help. I'd rather get an early 1.5-mile away warning than none

I found a Escort Quick Release mount with a GoPro compatible mount and used a GoPro
mount to attached to windshield.
I then got a RJ break out board and hacked the Escort Smart Cord features
to give me a couple of ports that I could use for external LED's.
Made a little LED alert pod I could mount in my line of sight with adjustable
low and high settings for day and night.
Each of 2 available ports gives me 12vdc and full circuit amps to use.
I run RD max range, all bands and all DSP filtering turned off for
max range and quickest response time.
When I get a chance I believe I'll be able to tie into the 14's launch and
shift light to trigger the LED pod as well.
Although nothing is going to catch this guy hiding in the bushes with instant on RD.

Very nice setup Piken, Rook, there's your next project. And BTW, that is a sneaky LEO, hiding in the underbrush....lol! I assume you got an alert in plenty of time?

I just thought of something Piken, did that guy have a buddy up the road in a chase vehicle or was he planning to run a ZX-14 down on foot....

Hi Piken, nice setup.
The only downside I notice is you cannot see the LED readout on the dash for important information such as fuel level and miles traveled.
Perhaps it's no issue for you.
It was important to me and it took ages to get right...

I noticed you guys are running a double bubble windshield that helps move the detector up and out the way of the display. I am using stock windscreens that position the detector in the way more or less, depending on the bike it's fitted to. The ZX-14 is the best, both the tach and speedometer are clearly visible, some of the others, not so much and I have to cock my head a bit to see the gear display, tach or speedo but not too bad.

The ZX-6R bites, can't see the speed or tacho too well but still doable.

If you guys need a boost on your audio alerts,Escort has a 120 db accessory speaker.I have one. It's compact and works killer.Easily hear it over pipes.I had to go with a ball mount.Windscreen bounced around too much to feel comfortable with it there..
I ended up taking it off.Just too much display interference.I think the Redline is a very good detector.I may reinstall if I can fab a way to mount it possibly in the right side inlet area. That would be the perfect spot.
I always thought the perfect spot on the 14 would be up under the upper inner fairing piece.Back near the horn or something.I need a clear view through my windscreen. And the dash.

I use a set of earbuds in the 3.5mm audio jack for an audible warning, I can't even see the LED display lights as they are too low and there's usually too much glare, the audio signal works a treat though, Ka band alert is a shrill whistle that really wakes you up.

Got another Ka band alert this morning, local Sheriff was right up ahead of me, plenty of time to slow it down.
Rook, you need to get one of these, that's an order, just ask Grn....
