huge electrical problem
03/25/13 8:55 AM

have an '06 with some 25000 miles on it. Last long haul trip the headlights suddenly would go dead ..then would come back on. As I finished the ride the turn signals began to fail to work... then both began flashing irractically at the same time. The bike became an ambulence with a buzzing sound coming from the relays at the headlights --which remain dead.
Replaced the battery ..checked the grounds..nuthing ..still the same. Have a PC3 +ignition module +tre..and everything has worked perfectly till last trip. It came on in stages. Ignition ( start up) and running is fine ..just all the lights do not work properly. Is this a relay problem ..a ground or a power problem somewhere???
Driving me nuts and I have to get the thing back on the road for a trip! Am NOT sending this thing tothe grease monkeys to further screw up for huge $$$.
any help will be greatly appreciated .

1. Swap relays.
2. If it stays the same = Ground problem.
3. Relay swap you would assume one would go, but both at the same time?

So if the pc is grounded to the headlights, not the typical place is that overflow bag or that coolant bolt most use, then no, it's not pc related. Back to a light circuit feed...

4. Check for a fuse that makes/breaks contact?
5. Remove the winker relay that is located right by your left hip, you now remove the seat, look to the left, down in the winker plastic cover. It is bolted to the side rail, rubber mounted. Pull the rubber mount off the hanger. Disconnect the winker relay. Go thru the motions starting and all that.
6. Or, go thru the motions to run the lights, then tap the winker relay, seat off and all that, before you remove the winker relay.
