Centerstand for the 2012
12/19/11 7:16 AM

Have any of you ever mounted the factory center stand on your 14's? I'm lining up my new purchase and find a centerstand a necessity. My old ZX-11 had a stand but I don't know if the 12 or 14 came with them. I know the 14R doesn't have one on it right out of the box.

I'm going to order part number 99994-0343 and hope it gets here before the bike does. I was just curious if any others have taken this route. Thx!

No idea if the OEM centerstand fits the 2012. Did you display the parts fiche and find it for the 2012? If so, the part number for the entire kit is given.

None of the pre-2012 ZX14s came from the factory with a centerstand.

It was one of the first things I did to mine.

Yes Privateer, the part number is from the 2012 fiche. They're available but on backorder at the moment but the dealer says he'll get one in as soon as possible. The price was $204 and I'll install it after I get the bike (they won't install for that price).

Was yours difficult to install? The diagram shows all of the hardware plus springs and stand.

The CS on my 2008 was an easy go on - as long as it does not have lowering links which will not let the CS return to the up position.

Yes very easy to install, like 10 minutes.

But... only if you have a stock exhaust system. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, you will need a seperate stop because the OEM center stand kit includes a bumper that attaches to the OEM muffler (bracket).

On mine, with CT-Duals, I used Brock's stop included with the exhaust. Its still on.

I also have a TiForce stop, which uses the OEM bumper, but have never put it on.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll mess with it when I get the bike and hopefully it will go smoothly.

Hey fowvay

Wanted to know if you ordered the stand from the dealer? Or where did you get it from, I'm really interested in getting one! I wonder if the ti-force stopper will work on the 2012s because I just purchased the two bros slips today.... Man I love the new bike but all this new bike uncertainty is killing me!

Over the years I have had a lot of English bikes with center stands and they are great for working on the running gear while you are on the road. I understand that you will have to do away with the plastic body work underneath where the stand bolts on.

Speedfreak, I did order the centerstand from the dealer that I bought the bike from. Oddly enough, I ordered that stand back in December and it's still not here. I called Kawasaki to get a update since the dealership had no idea why it was on a national backorder. I was told that because the 2012 model uses a different part than previous years and the centerstand is installed on certain markets around the globe that the part will not be released for after-sale distribution until the supply chain is filled for the factory production.

Estimated time for release in North America was late February. I was told to expect a additional two weeks for the warehouses to bin the parts and start filling orders. So I'm hoping to get my stand by mid March.

And 21744, the aft lower fairing and mounting bracket do have to be removed to install the centerstand. I knew this when I bought the bike so I actually never installed the fairing when I got the bike out of the crate. The mounting bracket is installed at the factory. I removed the bracket and mounted the fairing to it and stuck it back in the padded wrapping that the fairing was shipped in and stuck it away for safe keeping for some future owner to install if they wish.

I have a mere 375 miles on my new bike since purchase on groundhog's day and it's been a pleasure. I did get attacked by a Hayabusa while out on a leisurely ride the other day and I have to admit I didn't have anything to answer back to his screaming bird. But, I did make a new friend and it looks like this summer is going to be a blast!

For $204 I can get a good-enough podium stand & a couple of cheap spools. I'll probably go that route instead. But that's just me.

Well, it's March 20th and my stand is still on backorder. Nobody knows anything....

I guess I'll get it when I get it.

Yes, but you can't carry the lift stand (podium) with you on trips.

Maybe you don't do trips?

Fowvay,

My stand came in last week. I'm sure yours will be along anyday. Easy install, just need to pull the cans, and in ten minutes it's on.

Do you have to remove the small lower fairings and bracket to make it fit?

Well, I still don't have my centerstand and we're nearing the end of March. Who knows what is holding things up.

BTW, the centerstand kit comes with a grab handle that mounts to the left side of the bike to give you something to grab. It looks like a nice kit.. IN THE PICTURES!

Im not sure. Had mine for a few weeks. The grab handle is a pain in the arse to fit. I didnt install it. There is enough leverage that all I habe to do is stand on it and give a quick flick via subframe or passanger footpeg braket

Cruiserman just to be sure. Are you talking about the centrestand for the 2012 ZX14R?? As far as I can tell Kawasaki Australia haven't had any centrestands delivered for the 2012.

Or at least that's the story my dealer's giving me.
