Just bought new Sargent seat
06/21/24 11:38 AM

Thought I would try a new Sargent seat for my upcoming 3000-mile ride to southern utah in a week or so. I also added lower foot pegs and the 1" riser on handlebars. My last ride that long was in May when I went to Rapid City S.D. I was able to gut out a 650-mile day, but I am really too old for that s*&^t. I averaged about 400 a day on that trip. Hopefully I can do 500 a day with the new seat? Anyone have that seat?

Current ride: 2022 H2 Sx se (being held hostage by soon to be ex wife) Currently riding: 2012 zx14r. with stuff for speed and comfort.

I had a Saddlemen seat on my 08 and it was more comfortable than the stocker. It was heavier too but it also looked really cool.

If "butt burn" is a problem, try a bead seat pad. I made one out of a car seat pad for my 2009 trip to the west coast.
It kept me above any water when it rained.
Drink plenty of water, too.

Is that an old one with wood beads?

I have a Concourse 14 seat on my 2008 that is easy to live with. It was also cheap so works well when one is a "Cheap Bastard" like myself.

I've had my Sargent seat(low version) for about a year and I love it compared to the OEM seat. It looks nice mounted on the 14R and another added benefit is that it locks you in and keep you from sliding backwards during those hard throttle pulls. I was also able to install the rear seat cowl with the Sargent seat despite it being advertised as not being compatible with the rear cowl.

Mr Rook was it a Stealth seat from Saddleman?

Let me see Bobby...it was a Saddleman Tech Style. I have no complaints except it had a small gap at the back where it overlaid that little triangle tail piece fairing.

The ad below shows it on a ZX-10 and I believe the ad I purchased mine from for my 08 ZX-14 did too. It is a one piece seat for the ZX-14, of course.

I guess nobody has a picture of a ZX-14 with this seat on it. I do!

Also Bobby, this seat is a couple pounds heavier than the OEM seat. ALSO, the seat cover fairing will fit but the thick padding of the passenger seat presses against the underside of the fairing. This opens a gap between the seat cover and the side tail fairings. The set cover did settle in after a while but never fit quite as close as it did with the OEM seat. I didn't find that objectionable on my blackish bike but with a lighter color, it might have been unsightly. I'm pretty sure I have a full review of it on here. Longterm, I was very happy but fit was less than perfect.
