Shifting after my tune
11/21/16 2:14 PM

Hey guys I've had my 2015 zx-14r 9 months now. This weekend I had the bike tuned. I ride every day So I notice everything new about my bike whether I understand it or not.
After it was tuned now shifting at full throttle is more difficult especially 4-5th gear. B4 I would barely touch the clutch with my foot pushing up against the shifter at full throttle from 2nd-6th.
My tune is thru my ecu. Has anyone ever experienced this.

Looks like I'm just gonna have to shift earlier than b4 when racing until I figure this out

Your tune must be making more power, causing the gears to lock together tighter than before. So what oil are you running? High quality full synthetic like Motul or Belray or Amsoil would probably help if you're not on it already. You could also install a quickshifter, which is a better way than what you were doing anyway. Do you happen to have a Power Commander 5 installed? If so, there is a quickshifter feature built in, you'd just need a pushbutton.

That's the problem with mods, one leads to another... now you'll probably need better clutch springs :)

After 3 seconds of full throttle, everything else on the road becomes 'Oncoming Traffic'...

After a few days of frustration I allowed a good friend who owns a 14 with the similar set up but has full exhaust.
He raced the bike & had no problem shifting it & said it felt as strong as his bike with full exhaust.
So I continued to ride the bike daily got use to the new power & shifting is comfortable again. I have won 6 of 7 roll on races without gears problems. I can only imagine how it will feel with my new exhaust this spring. I haven't move to the senthetic oil yet but I plan too. Thanks for the response ????
