low flying geese

I did a 400 mile round trip today. All highway through N Wisconsin. Beautiful weather. A lots of high speed sprints

I did most of my ride back to Milwaukee at 90 - 100 mph. There were no cops and very little traffic on the road. There was some unexpected traffic in the air though. I surprised the crap out of a low flying goose and he surprised me too. Funny thing is it looked like he swerved to avoid me. I saw a sudden twist of feathers or something - it didn't look to graceful but it seemed to accomplish the task at hand (wing). It wasn't really all that close but close enough to make me duck (get it, DUCK!!) and look up (craning my neck) as I zoomed under him. I had crusty bug goo smashed all over the front of my bike when I got back. Glad there was no goose goo. That coulda been bad.

That makes two avian near misses now. A turkey last year and a goose this year. I'll remember those guys when Thanksgiving comes.

Perhaps they're anticipating your future plans-may be best to just pray that they tell their buds "stay away from those low-flying rocketships".

Beware of bats with bad radar. Small, but big ouch at speed.
