Headlight Wrench
06/21/10 3:05 PM

I can't recall which guy mentioned this, but I found I definitely need to raise my headlights just a bit. I wanna say it was either bg, rook, blue or kruz that mentioned they found a specialized tool that helped them with the tiny clearance into the dust cover issue I'm seeing now. You gents must have tiny finger (burger king commercial comes to mind - I'll hold yer burger for you lol ) to be able to reach in there.

Hold my burger, Pull my finger...I don't know----just watch out for those yummy onion rings at BK-- they will kill an evening with someone special quicker than your other gf.

How-To's

It was notfirstbutnext about 7 posts down. He used a u-joint attachment and a long extension for his 1/4" drive ratchet. You can pick those up at Sears. Also very handy for tightening all header bolts on exhaust without removing any fairings or radiator.

I think a ratcheting box end might be easiest if you are going to go out and buy some tools anyway.

Is that really what it's called? A ratcheting box end? You wouldn't have a picture of said tool, would you?

They may have a more technical name. I actually have never used one but I have seen them a lot. Nice for getting in tight spots. all you need to do is ratchet in a tight spot instead of take the wrench on and off to turn the nut. Also, notice the tool is perfectly flat. Regular wrenches have an angle to box end and that requires more space for the handle to swing through. They look like this.

You can get them here.

Seems like it would work nice for headlight adjustment. I just used a plain old open end. It worked fine. Took a little fiddling. To be honest, I can't think of any other wrenching I've done on the 14 that would require a ratcheting box end wrench. It would probably work well for header nuts but the 1/4" drive U-joint and extension would work better and is cheaper.
