What the best aftermarket smoked tail light?
01/15/15 4:11 PM

I have not purchased anything for my bike this winter so I was thinking about ditching the stock tail light for a smoked aftermarket LED unit. I want something safe and something as bright as stock when the tail light is on. Let me know what you guys are using and if your happy with it!

Custom LED the best.

You can't remove the stock lens from the tail light but you could try Nightshades spray. Maybe do a good coat of PlastiDip glossifier first (I never actually tried spraying paint over that stuff). If you don't like it, peel it right off.

Wolf I may go with Custom LED, those look real nice. Rook I don't want to paint over the lens. I want to be as visible as possible when the brake is applied. Thanks for the assist!

Nightshades is transparent. It comes in black, blue and some other colors.

If you want brighter, I would stick with the OEM lens and try LEDs like you're thinking. Actually, if someone wanted to black out a lens with Nightshades, LEDs would prolly be highly apropos. My busa has a black out lens cover and the brake brake light is barely visible in the sun. That is prolly cuz the OEM lens is red and blocks much ofthe light spectrum already. The directional light black out lenses I have on the busa are visible but they replace rather than cover the OEM lens.
