Engine won't start...

Need some serious help; I have a 2006 with only 800 miles mechanically stock. Baby the hell out of this bike, Love it but with a new daughter I really have not been able to ride as much... Baby-sit allot! So now that she is two I have more time to ride (thank you daycare). So recently my bike would cut out when I pushed the starter switch.... Hit the switch and power drain????? I thought it was battery so I changed it. Now I try to start the bike and a RED BLINKS that I have never seen before, on left side of display above turn signal..... Don’t know what to do, dealership wants to charge 150 an hour for electrical diagnostics; I can’t afford that with a new baby girl. PLEASE HELP!!!! I have shop manual to guide me ,but where to start?

Speed doesn’t kill; it’s the sudden STOP that gets you!

The red light flashing is alerting you to the LCD display-some sort of error message on it.See what the error message is-It will be "categorized" as a main function(FI,or something like that). After getting the "main" message, use the "mode" button and "reset" button pushed in TOGETHER for two seconds. The NUMERICAL code(service code) will display-telling you what is going on.If there may be more than one code, you find out by pushing the "mode" switch again.Key must be turned ON when you are checking these functions. After correcting the problem, you only need to turn the key OFF to clear the code.Check those codes in there-BEFORE you take to the shop. The listing for ALL the service codes are in the service manual PG3-42 thru 3-44.Sounds like:1)dead battery.Check your "voltage" display on your LCD.See where that's sitting. If you have 12 volts or so,and she still refuses to crank, check your battery ground. You did say you "replaced" the battery?Probably the ground is not connecting enough. She won't start with less than 12 volts has been my experience.Did you confirm the "new" battery was fully charged?Sounds like a ground issue.
