See, I have no problem upping the front end with power and hitting my point, no worries. I just don't use nor cover the clutch. When I roll off to was the front end down I add power and she settles in nice. When I bring her up under straight throttle I like the way she climbs firmly but not unpredictably. When I 'feed' in power like on a little bike for the clutch up. I find the clutch take up to be more erratic and less controllable. Just for me. And I know, practice! I just am not gonna beat on Priscilla practicing! And I straight just love a two foot high screaming power wheelie! It's fuckin awesome because of the drive out you get. I don't care so much about impressin folks with my skills. I just love the raging acceleration of lifting the front end on straight cam profile in second gear at speed! I love that shit! I smash third and 140+ happens NOW, and fuckin 4th...
Well, what the hell were we...
Oh yeah, wheelies.

Page 2 girls!

Yeah, I got the little stoplight wheelie down okay. Cops around here don't like it much. ;)

I have pulled the front end, but only a few inches......precious inches. I agree I have too much $$$$$ in this bike to mistreat it.

Not to say I have not had it up to 150 mph, but as for wheelies and burnouts, and whatnot............Not my bike.

But to each his own.

I would rather continue to develop my riding skill, such as cornering and skillful maneuvering in traffic, rather than stunting and abusing a wonderful machine like our bike is.

But wheelies are cool.....stoppies, impressive, I guess, but not as impressive as a long, controlled wheelie held at the balance point......while sitting down.........

It takes some f@@@King torque to raise the front end of this battleship.........

Zx64 yes sir, agreed the bike is too nice to phuck with and stunt. My bike wants to wheelie in first and second all day. I am careful with her and as for stoppies - 800 LBS OF ROLLING MASS is tricky to stand up!

I enjoy the 2nd or 3rd gear 2ft wheels but I'm happy with that I didn't buy this gorgeous 14r SE for that purpose I have a 2003 vtx1800 cruiser that I bought new and doesn't have a scratch and I will keep them both, the vtx will light the wide tire up in 2nd gear lol.. I'm no young buck anymore..I had a Katana 1100 that would burn the back tire like a top fuel dragster, also leaked fuel from the carbs couldn't be stopped and 2 cbr1100xx which were way too lite for intestate ridding.. I rode the tale of dragon on zx-14r I loved it, the sound of the 2 brothers slip on..doesn't get any better..:)

*Hard landing is VERY hard on front end. More steering head thank forks. The talented one, not I, can set a bike down pretty soft. Out grew wheelies many years ago.

My "trick" now is smooth as possible, which usually translates to fast as possible.*

I also outgrew the desire to ride wheelies with my dirtbiking days.

And especially, as you said, given how hard coming down is on your front end,( fork seals too).

Clutching up has to be pure hell on a bike, due to the sudden contact of power all at once.

It would stand to reason that a powerup wheelie would not be nearly as hard on the bike as a clutch up........as has been said.

Higher speed, but mainly cornering for me......the rest is not for me, unless I had a $2,000 stunt bike I care little about.

You are literally hanging on one ball until the next one comes around. Swing/wheels/neck. Even though the springs are taking up the impacts, it still trickles down to the bearing cages. They did not make the races any stronger material wise, heat treat wise. They are soft and leave an indent if not in shadow.

When you can swing the bars and it does not move lock to lock, but homes in the middle where it sits in a deep pocket [indent], you can't even steer it. It's that bad trying to center itself back in the groove while you are trying to turn.

Every time you remove the front wheel, check the swing to swing? Center the bar and see if they stick in the center or flops over? If you are going to hooligan, you need make sure Sally's camel toe is not visible sorta speak.

Again, Hub brings up an easy common sense simple check we should be doing routinely. The steering stem and head check. Good shite sir! I do this check every time the front wheel comes off for the simple fact that cornering performance demands it. But if we don't point it out most will overlook it and its very easy to do.
Thanks Hub!
