Sargent seats

Any of you get your pre-registration notice from Sargent. Mine came yesterday, it said that they were going to start taking orders today for there custom ZX14 seat. I'm not sure I want to be first on the list! Any additional thoughts about this company, or their seats?

I did receive the notice as well. Somehow, I do not like the profile of the double seat, which I want. If purchase, it would definitely be the low profile version. Now, I just need to check if they have a leather option. This is a must for me.

Yes, I got my notice yesterday, called them up, ordered the Modular version with Silver Welt and rear seat option. They said it would ship today if they had it in stock, if not in 4-6 weeks from now.

They aren't leather?
That would be a must for me, too!
Wonder if they would just sell the pan?
I really like the idea of some storage, but would rather have it custom upolstered. I had the faux carbon on my zx9, and want something different on the 14.

After I ordered mine, they said give them a day and call to see if it shipped. Well, I called them and they said there is a snag in the production of the Cowl filler pad and the rear seat.

The person I talked to could not give me any more info or when they would ship.

They will get it worked out, I'm sure.

I registered a long time ago, and got the email last week. Since I am VERY happy with my $90 Spencer mod I decided not to spend the money for a Sargent seat at this time.

I got my ship notice today! Can't wait to try it on the 14, I have one on my VFR and LOVE IT! I have had others (Corbin) in the past and I like the Sargent much better!

Nope. The standard material is CarbonFX, a vinyl type material.

Leather has to be special ordered.

Anybody have any feedback on the Sargent seat.
I'm particularly interested if the passenger section of the modular seat is anywhere near as comfortable as the 2 up design.
I know I'll never sit there, but I don't want to hear any complaints from the copilot.

Today is the last day for the pre-registration discount.

$ 511.91 incl. UPS ground

BTW, I ordered the Standard, Non-modular version.
The Modular version took them some 3 years to develop, but I really do not care for it.

I think I agree with you. I'll probably order the exact configuration that you did. Looking forward to your thoughts on it when you get it. Thanks. -bg

I'm definitely interested in one of the modular seats, and am disappointed I just missed the pre-reg discount. Has anyone tried theirs yet - feedback?

I received my seat yesterday. The 2 up version.

The wife and I went out for a ride...the jury's still out.

First impressions:

The finish on the seat is excellent. It's even got a little storage compartment underneath.

The fit ok...you have to push down hard on the rear section to get it to fully lock.

I rode with it solo first. Very comfortable. No complaints, but that's not why I bought it.

2 up, were not sure. The rear section has good size hump, which I thought I would like, to keep her from sliding into me. But it keeps her so far back that I have to position myself rearwards so that she doesn't have to lean so far forward to hang onto me. It makes the reach to the bars a little long. I generally like to ride right up against the tank. I do have Heli risers installed, I might need to add Genmars.

It was dark and cold last night(40's), so neither of us could really relax to get a good feel for it.
We'll try it again on longer ride... before maybe sending it back.

I think it depends a lot on your riding style and physical size.
By the way, I would say we're average size.

Cyclejunkie - I'm really curious what your copilot thinks about the seat. Definitely post up a review after ya'll try it out on a warmer day. I'm 6'5" so I naturally sit a little farther back than most so as long as this seat is quite a bit more comfortable for the copilot, this seat may be what we're looking for.

Thanks,
Chris

Seats are SUCH a subjective thing. Each person has their own completely unique physical parameters and personal needs. I cannot imagine paying that kind of coin for a seat unless it was custom carved for ME.

I'm surprised more people don't make their own seats. Foam carving isn't that big of a deal, and you can find excellent upholstery people that can do amazing work around.

Personally I am waiting until I can afford a C14 seat - something I notice ALL the custom seats do is give you a pocket by dropping your ass... No way! I already have dropped pegs and an LSL kit and my knees could use even more room!
