Ohlins suspension
05/20/09 8:44 PM

I'm looking for experiences with Ohlins suspension on the ZX14. I read on another post that the rear shock remote reservoir may interfere with the givi panniers that I have installed

I need a stronger spring when I carry a pillion and luggage. and I need to easily adjust between solo and two up touring suspension. The ohlins unit seems to fit the requirements but it is a lot of coin so I thought I'd "put this out there" to see if there are experiences that might help me.

Also curious about the ohlins forks. there is a price drop at the moment, so I wonder if there is any benefit in these eg for carving corners?

Thanks

How about the Connie14 rear shock unit?Maybe that would work(it's adjustable from the frame).

I'm in exactly the same situation Rusty. I've just bought the Givi PLX system and V35 case. The next thing on the agenda is to get the suspension sorted. Unfortunately I have to go for the after market option as fitting a part from another bike would mean getting a engineers report before I put it on the road which is required in Germany.

I'm sure there must be someone out there with after market suspension and luggage that could comment on this ?

Cant help on the Ohlins.
I have a Penske and its reservoir clamps to the square frame brace under the seat edge. Dont know if that would be in the way. Will have to pull the bag to adjust the compression dampening.
Seems Race Tech should have a spring and valve kit for the forks. I had a local suspension shop revalve and respring mine.
Big improvements over stock.

And too many other mods.

ZG touring screen, risers, Buell pegs, etc.

And a couple of other Kawi's

I fitted a hyperpro spring to mine and it did improve things but the stock damping was still letting it down. I ended up selling it and buying an Ohlins. I dont have Givis yet but i will be at some point. The remote reservoir can be mounted on the framerail rather than the footpeg if you want to fit Givis the picture below is from a guy using the SWmotech rack. Its taken from ZX14.co.uk

Hope this helps you
