Question about slip ons.
11/07/20 8:48 AM

Hey guys, so when i bought my bike, it came with double 2 brothers slip ons. I am planning on sending my bikes ECU to get tuned and i was asked if i want the fuel mapped for my brands slip ons or full system. I had the 2 cats removed with the slip ons and the third cat was in my my headers given i have a 2018. Well i replaced the headers with oem 2013 ones which removed my last catalytic converter so my question is as followed; does my two brothers slip ons with all the cats removed (making it a straight pipe) constitute as having a full system? Please let me know- Nick

I'd say NO if the header has a cross tube which it looks like it does. If you want optimum performance, you're not going to get it with a map that was created for a specific brand/model of full system unless you have that exhaust. Fueling for various full systems might be similar but each it's own best mapping. Get the exhaust that matches the flash or if you like your current setup, get it custom tuned.

I don't think you will notice a huge difference in performance by the seat of your pants before/after fuel mapping. Fueling alone isn't going to produce an eye opening change in power. At least that was my experience. I've run three maps for my Gen1 and I don't remember ever feeling a dramatic change from one to the next. I've tuned it myself. No big change. I believe removing the timing and flies restrictions will produce a much more noticeable improvement in your riding experience than fueling. If you run around with a fuel map that's a little off, it probably won't be something you find especially objectionable but it may be causing the engine to run lean or rich enough to cause some problems. ...or maybe not.

With your setup:

Max power, custom tune.
Safety, custom tune.
Not too worried about either, the fueling won't matter. People have run full systems on stock fueling. The bike was still fast, ran fine and I never heard of any of them burning a piston.

Personally, I like to know the bike is running right especially if it's not something I can tell by riding it.
