I know most of you guys probably don't street race but does anyone have some 14R street racing stories?

Im talking late night abandoned street not lane splitting on the freeway. That's what I like the track seems kinda boring. There's a rush with the possibility of cops thats just me.

No kills with the 14 yet. I've had a couple smaller bikes try me but I'm not gonna waste the gas.. Do more street racing in my car really cause there is a lot more stuff that can keep up than on the 14R... Haha

What kinda car you got?

Around my area, there is almost no street racing. All the idiots who were street racing have killed themselves or lost their licenses, and there doesn't seem to be a new crop of stupid people to take their place, yet.

does anyone have some 14R street racing stories?

I have a few but they are ZX-14 (as in Gen1) if that is acceptable.

Rook go for it! And street racing gives a rush and has a proper way to be done, the track is good and all if you like the police to regulate your fun

I have a few favs, actually. Grn you and some of the other long time members might remember hearing. I'll share, then someone else step up.

This was early on in my 14 ownership. Second summer, I think. This was some of the stupidist street racing I did because it was done on the most cop infested strip we have in town where everybody has gone for ever to race from light to light on warm saturday evenings. I heard the motors roaring and the tires squealing way off in the distance and it was sort of like a call of the sirens (were talking mythological sirens) to me. I guess it just sort of drew me in.

Off I went and it was no time at all before I was humming along in a pack of 5 or six hot rods. I like to describe the sound of the exhaust humming like a swarm of hornets. The resonation of the tones --gives me chills even now as I sit and think about it. Every now and again someone would hit it and break away and then others would follow. Inevitably we all came to a red light. there was a lane open on the far right and I was right there. The other two were lined up, a red GT and some kind of yellow Lancer or something... and a few behind us. I figured I might as well so I pulled right up square with the others....you know the drill, cross traffic signal, green yellow red -----GREEN WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA/SCreeeeeeeeeee! I gave them the jump not really knowing what to expect. I think it was a half, two thirds throttle at the most. I was in front by the time I hit second gear and I remember seeing the headlights in the darkness. I passed them up by the time I had shifted into third gear and I knew I was comfortably out in front. It sorta dawned on me that I was exceeding the speed limit by quite a few mph. I rolled off and remember looking down as the speedo dropped past 70. There was another red light coming up and the I noticed the GT was right at my side now. Actually pretty impressive that he stayed that close the others were way back. He rolled the window down. We expressed mutual admiration of vehicles. I don't think we expected to race again but as the light was about to turn I see this bike come streaking up on both of our left. There was two bikes. This guy zipped through the intersection as the light turned green. His head turned and looking right over at me. The GT and I hit it again and overtook that bike within a hundred yards or so.

That was enough for me . I wasn't wrecked by the sirens that night! LOL I pulled ahead of the GT both times but that was the car that stayed closest to me in my street racing adventures. That and some old late 60-early 70s Mustang that must have had all kinds of work done. Took me for a bit of a surprise. But that's another story.

I know, I'm a bad one. At this point, I don't think there is any street race situations that would entice me. Even on the open highway (or should I say "especially on the open highway"), I won't take a challenge any more. Too dangerous. Like this story. [flashback: scene dissolves into wavy blur and rematerializes with Rook on highway being tailed by silver Corvette, in traffic, all four lanes occupied by law abiding motorists.] I am in the far left lane behind an elderly woman. I see the road is totally open across all lanes ahead. There could be no more perfect situation for a race than this. I know these Corvette guys almost always want to race. I am weaving back and forth in my lane. I made couple of downshifts/upshifts just to make some noise. Yes she sees me and yeah, I'm sure she didn't appreciate the fact I am buzzing around on her bumper like a fly. She pulls ahead of traffic and pulls in to the right. Maybe she realized this would give her a great front row view of the race. I juiced it a little bit and pulled up switching over one lane to the right. I see in my rearview the Vette is coming up behind me full bore. I down shift a couple gears and wait to pull the trigger. He's on my side and i drop down on the tank and rip it wide open, the Cannon wails and we are off. Upshifting through the gears I am out in front but I still see him in my rear view, falling back farther and farther. Did he give up? IDK. I am laying on the tank skirting a four foot concrete wall to my left. The wall height changes to about three feet which suddenly offers a good view of the other side of the expressway. There is a cop parked on the opposite side. Never saw him until we were right on top of him. We passed doing about 130. No chance any license plate could have been read. I cut throttle for a second, thinking what the hell to do now. I see the cops lights come on as I pass. I see the cop car sort of jerk ahead and then stop abruptly like he wanted to give chase but couldn't. WTF is he gonna go on the other side of the expressway with a cement wall in his way? I guess we got lucky on that day. That would have been a trip to jail, I'm sure and bike hanging from a crane. We proceeded onward keeping the speed to a reasonabl;e 100 mph and took the second exit. The Vette went east and I went south. I might sound pretty calm and cool about it now but believe me, I was shaking in my boots. Got lucky.

...of course, Grn you know me by now...these stories are all just made up for our enjoyment. ...like the vids of other people riding my bike doing crazy stuff.

Reminds me of when I rounded that curve...doing 140.FUC%%%First cage...no prob...swooped on by...second cage...HWY PATROL....ya....he just kept on goin though...while I pulled over and wiped myself off.

It's a 2006 mustang gt with 500whp, that number is pretty common these days but that's all I want to get outta her with the stock bottom end...

Now with a fully built bottom end... It'll be a whole different ball game!

...well, then there was the time I happened along behind a black Corvette and a black Porche and there was an open lane so of course had to pull up on my black 14. The Porche was left behind. I don't know what ever happened to the guy. There you see, almost any Porche driver is gonna be a pushover.

Believe it or not, there was an SUV that really hauled ass against me. I didn't loose but that thing was some serious competition. And the old Mustang I mentioned before with the big ol' cam yiou could just hear that thing loping around at an idle. Sounded nasty and even more ferocious when he nailed it. Stayed right on me, yup. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if we got up to triple digits.

I raped om my friends r6 and some camaro on the way home today haha.

You get a loud exhaust on there and all the suddenly not too many wants to try anymore. LOL like they think they might have a chance against a quiet bike! LOL

The busa was also a memorable ride. I tell ya, Trc, IMO you don't really REALLY road race on the street. Drag, maybe, yes, go all out in a straight line with plenty of room to stop. Tell you the truth, I doubt that most hobby racers really battle all that hard on a road course track. Someone is faster than you, you let them pass. I think most pros even recognize when they are seriously outmatched by an opponent and they just stay put and let 'em by. So it goes with bikes in the twisties and on the the county highways. Assuming the skill level of the two riders are anywhere in the same ballpark, we are all just too fast to really try to out-corner and out-brake. Someone will get killed. Racing under these situations is more of a game of chase.

One of the fondest memories was a guy on a piped gen1 busa who came rolling up bare armed, no helmet and some kind of scary low assed skinny pants some young guys started wearing a few years back (looks a little gay IMHO but whatever, I had 12 inch high hair back in my day). So anyway, this guy sorta slowly pulls up on my left all like nothing and of course, how could the two rival bikes NOT race? He took off. I followed him and before I know it, we're doing way over 100. I never met the guy, we're doing 160 and the only way I'm going to close the hundred feet or so is to go WOT and go for top speed---which I have never done, not even yet today. I doubt I would have got along side him let alone pass the guy. It would be crazy to try. We just flew down that highway for about a mile and covered that in no time. A big corner came up and I closed in on him as he slowed down but no way would I try to pass. It was just the coolest thing to see another bike lean that far over and scream through a turn like that with a knee hanging out, we're both hanging off and just flying. After the big sweeper, we were in town on the interchange and slowed down in the traffic. We were both laughing and took off on different highways.

Had a similar episode with a 1000. He exited and I lifted my arm up to wave. Almost tore it off. (don't ever wave going 100 mph).

so I'll post a pic of my ticket for you after I photoshop the private info out.....ok I said I would STFU about all of that....justy keep your head on straight Trc. This all just story telling. nobody really goes that fast on the public roadways, for crying out loud.

Do old stories qualify?

Using a ZX-14 R to smoke R6 and Camaro in a straight line wouldn't excite me much. however, Nebraska is so flat, this may be the only entertainment available. Between Iowa and Nebraska there is a really good road with a lot of sweepers but that would too far from Scottsbluff.

I was on a group ride the other day and before we set off for the last part, the experienced riders told us to watch our speed for the first five sweepers (90 degrees with elevation changes). We went through the first 2 and this kid on his zx-10 was so shook he started braking like a mad man. The thing that pissed me off is that he would blast the straights. We came on this long straight and when we got to a spot from where you could see the next turn he started to roll the throttle back, I did the opposite, got back in his lane, light single finger braking and threw the bike in, I ended up missing my apex and coming out real wide lol My mistake was that I panicked and stopped pressing on the peg when my suspension unloaded! Despite that mistake, I had lost the zx-10, so bad the leader had to go look for him. When we got to the next stop that kid wouldn't even look at me and when we told him we were going to get on a more technical road, he said, it was late and he had to go home lol Accelerating is easy not using the brake makes the difference between men and boys! That's why when I group ride I'm really humble and take it easy. I have had track guys smoking me on bandits!

I totally understand the feeling when TRC says the possibility of being caught or cops make it more exiting because a straight line doesn't scare or challenge you enough. Try the strip and race for honor, bragging rights and cash and that oughta give you some sensations. That being said until a 14 R or at least a 14 comes into town, you will be bored or praying on the weak!
