Mich Road 3
08/26/13 6:47 PM

I have been receiving a great deal of constructive criticism form folks who are Pilot Pure Loyalists and by this, I will say the Pures are an amazing tire. However, most have directed me to put Pures on my bike, i.e. weight savings, grip etc. Well I put a 190/55 Road III tire and have been riding very aggressively in the dry. I have been launching, carving and doing wheelie inducing roll ons from 2nd gear... I find the Pilot Road three an amazing, absolutely amazing grippy tire that provides great feed back to the pilot.

HOWEVER
TODAY!!!! I ran 80 km in hail, rain, roads flooded with pools of water. I rode sideroads, the shoulders, twisties, and highways where the ice pelted the road in sheets. I WILL SAY the PILOT ROAD 3 is my Canon Ball Tire. This tire just eats everything up and provides amazing grip and milage....PHHHHHHHUCK, I love this tire. For all you peeps who turn their nose, I ask you, have you tried this tire...MY GOD WHOT! Love this tire. So if you haven't trie it....what cha waiting for...

Good things you wrote this today wolf, I almost bought a set of Q3's this week, now I am thinking of going back to the PR3's (like I was going to do in the first place) I don't think the Q3's would last long on a fire breathing ZX14R !!!

Boyz they are all good tires, but the life lasting dry and wet carve championship belongs to the road threes!!!
IMO. I would also say tires are a very personal choice and some might prescribe to a sticky race set up that don't last. For them this is the way! I am not offended by criticism just wanted to post some thoughts on how she has been performing for me. And on that note, one word flawless!

Yup! Bobby and Wolf are right about these suckas. I bought the pilot power 3, which are different than the pilot pure. The power 3's grip crazy good, really really well, but they are wearing fairly fast. The road 3's are gonna be my next tires!

I just replaced my OEM rear with a BT-023. The OEM front still has some life in it. Once I finish this rear, I'm putting PR3s on.

Would be good to see what you think of the 023 on your bike jtemple.
I used to run them on my GSX14 and loved them.

Thanks for the impression Wolf. Just a question.... I've had Dunlop Sportsmart before (Q3s over there) and loved them on my 07. I mainly ride in the dry, and like my tires like my women. Hot, sticky, not answering back and make you want to go hard. Are these the tire to fit that guise?

I wish I could say my bro, I have never ridden those tires. I find my Mich 3's grippy in the dry, and wickedly responsive but, they were build with versatility in mind. Not sure bro, wish I could you some advice, but so far I am finding great things in riding these tires in the dry hot, and cold wet.
They last too.
I would hate to set you up with a woman, that does not fit your needs...
Me I love strictly red heads dude!

PR3 Worst tyre I have ever had. Front end wanders under mild braking. Feel terrible, wont turn into a tight corner. Tolerable at lower temps, but over 27 C are scary bad. Perhaps I had a dud set ,but others I know also feel the same. Currently on Dunlop Sportsmarts (Q2)............much better!

What buny? I call straight bullshit. Must have been some fluke, or a pressure thing, or a set up thing. Honestly, I have with my own eyes seen customers at brothers powersports that I know ride fairly hard, rave about the pilot road 3's, just like wolfman! I live in PAC NOR, so rain is ever present, not only do I see them being used to the almost edge, I hear nothing but rave reviews on grip, wet or dry, and tread life. The science backs up that they got it right. Either a bad tire, or a bad set up air pressure thing. I don't know. First bad thing I have ever heard. I don't buy it. Sounds like the pressure was through the roof. Too hard. I don't know. Not trying to be an ass. But it runs contrary to everything I have heard.

Yo Buny,
I am ok with your feed back, as I said, it's not for everyone...but that said, I cannot confirm any of your notes...everything I have experienced stands in contradiction to your impressions. That's not necessarily wrong it's just your comparo to mine. I have em inflated 40/38 and ride the shit out of em. Have thus and since been very happy!

Not to throw more doubt but Michelin has another new tire called the super sport, and I would love to "try" those.

It's funny, I was not impressed wth the Metzler Sporttech 5 that came with the bike stock. Found them to be the shitiest tire I have ever experienced and others raved...

Who knows!

C, I have been hearing the same thing from ALOT of people, that the road 3's stick really well, turn quick, and last a lot longer than most other tires, I don't know how michelin did it, but that's what I'm hearing, and these people race, not that they use the R3 for the track, but for the street, especially for the 14R, they keep saying this tire is the shit .... IN a GOOD way !!

Exactly! What I see in tire carcass is nice thick micro layers, welded together using a bonding agent that is temp reactive, strengthening and smoothing the transitional compound strips in the carcass over time. Making it better over time not worse. It all kinda makes sense. I see it. I hear it. I believe it. I AM BUYING A SET NEXT. Besides, I need that extra wear in The center for burn outs...

I put on pr3's after I wore out the stock m5's that came on the bike. I've put over 8k commuting, back roads, long rides, on them since Feb . These tires grip, soak up bumps, and also git rid of that twitcy feeling the m5's had. Still look like new. Measured tread depth and only wore off 5/32. Come with 10/32. Ill try and oist oic of tires asvthey look now. They ate the bomb
