Still Alive!!!/New Exhaust???
05/14/17 9:27 PM

Hey all! I've spent pretty much all of my time on here reading and learning rather than posting. So, I just figured I'd stop in to say the bike and I are 600 miles in and still going strong! I literally just finished my third chain mantinance and first oil change. Although still being very new to riding and bike maintenance, every day I am more and more happy with my choice of starting out on the 14. I'm now riding it in full power mode/trac 2, but still taking it extremely easy. I feel like even though when in full power mode the bike accelerates more aggressively, it seems smoother and more predictable than when in low power mode. Maybe that's just me though?

On another note, I'm thinking an exhaust change is in my near future! When I'm riding with a group or even just with my friend and his custom cruiser, the sound of my engine is completely drowned out. I'm not looking to gain power, so I'm pretty sure I'm just going to go with slip-ons. I'm leaning towards the M4 Retro Drag slip-ons because the satin black would look so clean with the metallic matte carbon paint. From what I've read it seems I won't need to install a power commander to run them, and they should be easily loud enough to cut through during a group ride or along side a straight piped cruiser. It seems like a win win! Any input?

I love my Brock's Alien Head 2 full exhaust. Believe me, you will get used to the bike and wish you had a bad-ass exhaust system like the aforementioned and you will need to go ahead and get the PCV to compliment the exhaust. Before this bike, my last was a Honda CB750 and I was very intimidated by the 14R at first. I started off in Low power mode and then moved up to Full power level 2, then level 1 and on occasion I turn the traction control off at the track.

That's an awesome choice for slipons but like the others, I'd recommend a full system. I've never had slipons but if they don't open the mid range and top end up as much as a full system, you're missing out on the sensation of the engine spinning up free and easy. IDK how much faster a full system makes the bike but I do remember feeling my bike with stock exhaust was restricted when I was in the throttle hard. The power is in there and it's fighting the exhaust.

I never ran my bikes without a fuel module but it's probably fine. I'd put a PC5 on there when you can just for the safety factor.
