Dealer talks bad about brocks?
05/19/12 3:21 PM

I went to my dealer in Colorado(not naming) to ask about possible sponsorship.
I asked about a pipe and tune and they told me that they had a customer order a brocks pipe, and it had terrible welds anda tube of silicon to fix any leaks. Does this hold water? I can't think of a reason they would tell me false info. He even stated he didn't know anyone else with a race system out. Is there another competitive company producing 14R products?

you guys crack me up!

it had terrible welds anda tube of silicon to fix any leaks.

On rare occassions I've hear Brocks build quality is not top notch. There is a trade off between light weight materials and strength. It is not possible to do the kind of welding on an alien head that is done on my cannon, for instance. I belive you will get all around performance and quality from a CT system if they ever make that for the 14r. I bet they will.

From my experience on Bikeland Brock seems very approachable. If one of his systems is lacking in the quality department... he strikes me as someone who would tend to that personally. Like Grn's map.

"quality from a CT system if they ever make that for the 14r"...well...yeah....Rookster...didn't you read my posts on the CT system?Single sided...CT(Brock's).It's one of his biggest sellers .

The sealing stuff they sent with mine was NOT for the fitment of the pipes...they fit perfectly with no way for any gases to escape...the stuff they sent was for the Header bolts...anti-seize grease(or whatever it is)...

Don't know. I guess I keep hearoing about the Alien Head 2. I would pay better attention if I had a 14r. Ok, problem solved, Trc. Just get a CT. Best pipe to have anyway. I like the meg.

...also, I can't make a blanket statement but concerning the few dealerships I have been to, they would be close to the bottom of the list of people I would go to to ask about modding. If the dealer you visited sponsers racers on a regular basis, they might have a qaulified opinion. I'd go to the track and see what others have.

Anytime you walk through the doors of any dealer, turn your ears off and smile. Every word that comes out of their mouth is bullshit.

I was checking out at 14R the other day and when I mentioned the word "touring" the salesman shifted gears and said that new Honda 250 would be "nice to tour on" So not only are they only interested in your money, but they are also wierd and half of them don't know shit about bikes because they used to sell cars.

Hey TRC
Most guys in a dealership from my experience usually dont know as much as they think they do or lead you to belive they do. I have a CT dual set on my 14R and it is a work of art so I dont know what that dealer is talking about? Brock is a stand UP guy and would replace any defective part in a heart beat. Sounds like that dealer never heard of brocks but is a Muzzy dealer and makes a bigger profit on selling non brocks products.

Just My 2 cents

some people at dealerships think OEM parts are the only thing you should have on your bike.

TRC, Brock also have a very nice dual slip on pipe if you are looking for sound and looks. A power commander is not required but recommended so you can save on that end. Two Brothers also have a set of dual slip on's you can get in aluminum, carbon fiber or titanium.

Many dealerships have one goal only.... Make as much as they can. That leads them to sell the cheapest product they can make the most on. I bought the Brock's pipe and fit & finish are better than any other pipes I have ever owned (Muzzy, Yosh, Vance & Hines). Another consideration that made my choice easy was trolling the forums & hearing all the praise about Brock's customer service.

I'm looking for a racing pipe, something that will give me peak and maximum power.

I bought the CT single full titanium system from Brock's. Both myself and the mechanic at the dealership mentioned the quality and perfection of the welds. Not sure what your dealer is talking about but Brock's system exceeded my expectations. The sound is awsome and I can definitely tell a difference in power. They also have great map support.

The Alienhead & Streetmeg are within 2 HP of the CT, the CT produces just a bit more HP and weighs a little less. The CT series are $300-650 more than the other systems due to the cost of Titanium.

Poor welds and needs silicone to seal?? Your dealer is an idiot. My CT dual has fab quality and tig welds as good if not better than anything I've seen out there. I always assemble any exhaust system with hi-temp silicone, usually the red but sometimes the ultra-copper. I then let it it cure overnight and I've never had any issues with exhaust leaks on any system. I too bet he was squawking all about Muzzy stuff. My Kawi dealer sure was, but he got real quiet when I showed up with my CT duals. You want answers, get them from people without an agenda.

too bad I don't live in NE anymore, I would have brought my bike to Scottbluffs. The exhaust looks as good as it sounds. I have been on many group rides etc. There is always a pipe louder than mine but when I come through downshift and bleep the throttle, I've got everybody attention. They just sound like nothing else out there.

I knew brocks was good but it threw me off when my dealer said that. I was still skeptical but you know how it is when someone who is usually straight with you tells you something like that.

Guys I saw some pics of the new Alien 2 when it first came out. Thought it must have been Proto type ? If any one here has bought one recently please post pics of the joints where the new bigger header meets mid pipe and pipe to muffler. Pics tell all cheers.
