I put the bike on the rear stand and use a low-profile automotive jack under the oil pan to lift the front. Depending on how low-profile the jack is, you may have to remove the lower fairings for this to work properly. lower fairings off at the time.

I recently asked about using a floor jack under the oil pan instead of using a front stand. Many people did not recommend because the oil pan is aluminum and it can dent easily. If it dents, the bike will still run but you could run into trouble with oil starvation (because now your oil pump is higher was the reason, I think). The bike is light but it would seem a wise precaution to use a 2" thick chunk of wood to place between the jack and the oil pan so the weight is distributed evenly. Also, don't raise the front any more than you really need to - closer to level you go, the more pressure on the oil pan.

I bought a Pitbull fork stand with steering pivot lift adapter. It works great. You can pick up a cheaper front stand that will do the job too. Pitbull is really overbuilt but it is nice and you can use it with confidence. The steering stem adapter leaves all the screws and axle clamps free for easy removal of front axle.

I used a floor jack and a 2by4 under the header right at the bend and had NO issues with it. didn't have to remove the fairings or anything worked like a charm, and was quite stable too.

Follow Jeff with the wood block and the energy spreads over the square of the wood. No jack is kissing the case as if to implode it all on that one point(s) of the jack's teeth.

Agreed. My floor jack had a big old 3-4" rubber pad kind of built-in. If yours doesn't have something similar, you want to use a hank of 2X4.

Get the bike under a beam/roof of any kind and lift it up with straps on the bars.
