Scorpio alarm
04/14/13 4:13 PM

Hey all,

Has anyone installed a Scorpio alarm on a 2012 zx14? I purchased the kawasaki harness as well and am having an issue. as per their site I have the kaw-11 part harness. The plugs work for the blinkers but not for the tail light?

The tail light plug is directly plugged into the tail light housing and is then run into a bundle of wire that is all taped together that includes the left and right turn signals...

On top of this it doesn't seem the power lead is long enough to get to the battery... And the turn signal plugs are not labeled left or right, or does it not matter?

Any insight will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Without knowing how exactly the Scorpio is supposed to be wired in my guess is you will have to cut the taillight plug on your harness you bought and spice the wires into the bikes harness close to the taillight. The power lead you will have solder and heat-shrink a longer wire to the end of the lead and crimp on a new ring terminal. Be sure you use the same gauge of wire when you extend the lead. As for the turn signals I don't think it should matter which side you plug into. It just plugs in with the harness right? If its wrong then just flip em around. Double check your work and make sure you heat-shrink and or tape all your splices so you don't short out anything.
I hope this helps out some. If I'm way off base then let me know and I can still help you through this.
Let me know what you think of the system once you got it up and running, I'm considering a Scorpio alarm for the Nasty Cruzr.

Kaw-11 is a part number for all zx14's for 06 and newer and eliminates the need for any cutting or soldering... Supposed to anyway. You just plug the connectors inline. Unfortunately I'm not seeing how or where the tail light is supposed t plug in. The connector that plugs directly into the tail light housing is the wrong form factor. :-(

Yeah dude I'm checking out their website right now. It claims to fit the 06-13.

Do you have pictures?

I finally broke down and called them. The tech admitted their instructions were lacking. The connector In question was farther forward than I was looking. Also since I replaced my stock license plate light that confused the issue. I now need to splice in about 5" is wire so the rear blinker connectors reach without too much stress.

I am only adding that much line so I can reroute the wires some and still fit in my tool box.

Thanks for try to help Nasty, I really appreciate it.

I'm sorry I couldn't have been better help to you. I'm glad you got it together now. I tried emailing them back n the 15th but never heard back from them. Ha they probably had no idea what the hell I was talking about and ignored my email. Lol

Let me know what you think of the alarm, if its worth getting one or not. I like the idea of being able to disable the whole machine, I don't know if it would make a difference or not if they really wanted to steal the bike. I like to be notified when I have to go outside and open a case of whoopass when someone starts dicking around with my toy.

Omega, I was going to ask you to post some pics, but probably not a great idea to show the world exactly where your alarm's wiring is routed... LOL

Its all contained under the seat so I dont think I would be opening myself to any real security issue. I *plan* on finishing that up tonight. I will get some pre and post pics for you.

Sorry for the small text guys. This is how tight the wiring was with the stock harness. I hated to splice but did inline splices and used shrink tubing...

I ran the power wire under the tank and through the "firewall" hole for the fuel line so there is nothing exposed for someone to bypass the alarm.
