Slip-on question
08/09/14 8:52 PM

Got me a new 2013 14 and am just looking to shed some weight and gain a little better exhaust note. What budget slip-on system would you recommend and if installed is there a need to re-map or tuning necessary? And are full systems really worth the extra money? Not looking for record breaking numbers here.

Thanks

M4s if they have those for the 14r. Light and loud. and look really nice.

No, not really. The flow shouldn't be too different. You probably wouldn't notice any change in performance. I'd research into that for the Gen 2.

Yes, if you appreciate improved handling, a full system will make more of a difference for that but losing the mufflers will drop most of the weight.

There are a lot of great looking slip-ons on the market. V&H brawlers look great but will get you a lot of unwanted attention from not only the police but your neighbors too! Yoshi, Akra, Two Brothers, and Brock's make quality pipes that have great sound without being TO loud, plus you can get polished or carbon fiber depending on your preference for looks.

Per the dyno, there is not a lot of difference in power between the stock header and an aftermarket, Kawasaki did a great job on the pipe. The cat converters are in each muffler on a stocker so you have an unobstructed pipe once you pull them off.

Your bike will run a little on the lean side with just slip-ons but not enough to hurt anything.

Not on ZX14R, but had experienced with Delkevic on my Z750S. http://www.delkevic.us/
I purchased SUS slip-on. It was very well-made and sounded sweet without the DB killer. I am thinking about getting Delkevic for my ZX14R.

I originally had the two brothers carbon series dauls. Liked them a lot once I put the pb1x sound tips in. Wanted a different look so went with brocks alien head daul slipons. Dropped almost 10 more poubds of weight off the bike. Love the sound even better. If you search arond you can get a used set for about 1/2 the price. You'll gain a little hose power with slipons maybe 5-6 and shed at least 20lbs off the bike vs stock cans. You can tune if you want but not needed with just slipons

I have no complaints with my delkiveks. I did cut them from 18in. to 14in. and powder coated black.
