What Full System should I get for my new 14R&amp&#x3b;&#x23&#x3b;x3f&#x3b&#x3b;

What full system should I plan on getting for it?

Must Haves:
*Maximum HP improvement
*Lightweight as possible


Very highly desired:
*Single muffler
*LOUD, the more obnoxious the better.
*Prone to popping and shooting flames on decel


Hope for but might be able to live without:
*Shorty for looks but may consider a wide midpipe with very small muffler that fastens to stock hanger.
*Very good cornering clearance (I was scraping my Tsukigi and I don't want that again)

I was thinking a CT Meg this time? What's your thoughts? Maybe a Pentacarbon because I think it will be louder maybe? I really want the best HP most though. Anything better than Brock's for ticking off my list?

Well , I am running the CT Meg Brocks titanium exhaust , it was chosen over all other exhausts because ;
Japanese design and titanium fabricated , dual diameter headers , 4.1kg total exhaust weight including hardware . Brocks Alienhead systems uses the same design for maximum HP . This pipe makes the most power and least weight combination over all other type exhaust systems . 2nd choice ; The normal CT version , uses a longer mid section pipe , and the muffler is more conventional shape , not a
megaphone shape . You need a hanger bracket for this pipe. The
weight will also go up a bit with this pipe .
The Brocks CT Meg is the lightest exhaust bro , the penta carbon is a steel tubed copy though , the muffler looks better but must be heavier . The CT Meg is loud on throttle , like very loud , but partial throttle settings you can navigate past all but the most sensitive pig and be okay all ride day . This pipe combined with a good proper woolich tuner ( not a post flash ), can net you 200-210whp / 120-125ftlb .

Thanks toad, I thought that was a CT Meg you had on your 14R. I'm kind of leaning in the same direction. This video caught my attention though. Decent looking pipe even if it's not a shorty, same weight as the Ti CT Meg and just a hair short of 200 hp on pump gas. Sounds quite loud but that's really impossible to tell in a video. I don't think it's going to pop flames out more readily than a shorty. I know, you can tune any pipe to turn it into a flame thrower but I'd like one that wants to make flames as naturally as possible. I've asked this guy to come over and visit us. I don't know if he will or not, I'm sure he's very busy. He was helpful with break in advice. I'm hoping for dry weather at midday today so I can ride!

Do you think I should consider the Arata or stick with the Ti CT Meg? Brocks is out of stock right now. I'm in no hurry (if you wouldn't have guessed ).

18:30 dyno numbers: 199.77 hp/116.93 tq on 93 pump gas, 208.20 hp/120.88 tq on MR12

A quick shifter can cause flames in between shifts . The 210bhp and 122.7ftlb for my ZX14R is 98 octane pump gas , called super 98 and unleaded , equivalent to your 93 octane . The calculation is different to give that octane number in Australia .
The Arata pipe sounds good too , but the ultimate pipe of choice for super stock ZX14R is CT Meg or steel copy Alienhead 2, because it will make that extra hp on pump . That 4.1 kg is with steel bracket that bolts to right rearset and all hardware included in that total .
I think you would like the tucked neatness of the CT , it looks aggressive cos it is .

I have seen the video bro , the other day , it came up for view . Just to clarify , all my bikes are dyno'd on the same dyno that my ZX14R was tuned on . Of note , the Busa with CT Meg made 195 bhp and 116 ftlb , with woolich tune . This dyno is know as a pretty neutral measurer , always up to date with Dynojet calibration . My old dyno site was a lowish reader , but it is actually very close to the current dyno measure .
I just checked , Arata is part of Striker Japan , who make my ZX14R swingarm , and a lot of nice things for a lot of bikes . That exhaust should be pretty good , and the titanium will be quality .

Just saying my 2022 ZX14R stock is a hand full on less you have a swing 10.40's at 141 and I'm 250 lbs. Wheelies crazy 1st and 2nd. I put a Pingel Electric Shifter on hard Wheelies in 1st shift 2nd in air while feet hanging back to try to get straight.

I started with dual slip ons with the delkevics, m4 drag and then the alien head dual slip ons. Later on I went the full exhaust route and purchased the M4 full system and then the Brocks Full Predator system. Even though I had finally graduated to a brocks full exhaust, I kept hearing and coming across topics that if you want the absolute best performance along with being one of the lightest exhaust on the market, that the Brocks CT Meg system was the way to go. When I came across some extra $$$ I bit the bullet and ordered the CT Meg system not really expecting any improvement over the other systems I have owned including, at the time, the mounted Brocks Predator system.

Well, to cut through the chase, once I got it tuned and took it for the first ride, let me tell you my butt dyno was screaming with excitement!! I definitely felt a boost in the low and midrange compared to every system I've owned. I'm now a firm believer that the CT Meg system is the pinnacle of exhaust systems specifically for the 14R platform. Now I no longer have to wonder if I'm extracting as much performance out of my bike in the exhaust department.

Oh yes, a quick crackle between shifts could be heard when that engine was good and hot. I used a quickshifter on my Gen1. From my experience, I'd be very careful about which shifter I would use in the future and how I would use use it.

I just checked , Arata is part of Striker Japan , who make my ZX14R swingarm , and a lot of nice things for a lot of bikes . That exhaust should be pretty good , and the titanium will be quality .

I'll keep it on my B list. That Ti CT Meg is the top contender.

Another vote for the CT Meg! I think that will be the one I'll go with. It might not be as loud as I'd like at low speed but power and weight are the priorities.

I cannot speak for other short systems , but the CT Meg tucks in nicely , and the muffler is designed to be angled for lean . My thing is setup to hills ride over every other type of ride , so no problems with around standard height .

A member from years back was an avid track racing enthusiast determined to turn is 07 ZX-14 into a track bike. He eventually abandoned the idea in favor of using a literbike. The reason he gave up wasn't because of the Alien Head he used on his 14. I had a full length muffler on my 08 and the pipe underneath was what scraped. The location of the scraping was the bend in the pipe where it comes out from underneath. There was a joint there where the 2 join into 1 and that was the largest diameter of the pipe. It was a long time ago but I sort of remember looking at it and thinking an Alien Head or something similar was what I needed. Looking at it, I believe it would be easier to design a muffler for maximum leaning clearance if it were as high off the ground as possible. I'm pretty sure I won't have an issue if a shorty is working for Toad. If I ever get to the point where I can clean my chicken strips off completely, it's time for a new bike.

Speaking of scraping the exhaust, a higher rear has to help to avoid that in addition to other cornering advantages a higher tail height has. A little higher tire, extending the shock height or maybe some raising links...it all adds up. When I was scraping my exhaust, it was happening because of an eighth inch lack of cornering clearance. Then you lower the pressure in your tires and loose all you gained! Lose some, gain some, I'm sure it's an ongoing battle when you can push the bike to the limits.

If I ever get to the point where I can clean my chicken strips off completely, it's time for a new bike.

You can clear any chicken strips on this bike, at least with a 195/55s. I've not run a 200, so I don't know how different that is. For me that's the best times...I miss those times where I had some places to ride like that and wear the side treads off as much as center tread.

14R as a track bike. Yes... as long as the expectations aren't to keep up with the other bikes. Fun factor though? 11, even if a few seconds off pace.

Rook I thought you'd done some track days in the past on your 14. I'd swear I remember youtube videos by a person named Rook on a 14.

I will say, I have some some crazy track videos of 14s. I have seen riders on 14s be faster than other riders on 1000s and 600s or whatever. One video there was this very thin guy, and I think itmight have been in Japan at various go kart tracks, and this dude was killing ...people with 250s couldn't keep up, even on the very tight and small tracks he typically ran on.

@VicThing , do you mean a 190/55 streetbike tire ? That is imo best for cornering on the ZX14R with the 6.00 inch rim ( street / hills riding ) . When I first got my 14R , I had a set of Pirelli SC ,3's I think , and I was amazed at how quick that bike punted through my favorite roads , even compared to my full modded Busa I also owned then .
When I changed to carbon wheels , and the rear wheel size went up to 6.625 inch and 200 / 55 tire fitment . The bike turns very well , but loses a little bit of initial turn in , but will plant a considerable patch of rubber , for every time you add big throttle , so for me , overall is now turning faster .

Yes, a couple when I was in good practice. I was balls out early on but as the day wore on, I had to hold back. The main objective was to not crash. True, a few seconds doesn't matter a whole lot to me. I'd own a liter bike or a 600 because I liked the bike and if I could go a little faster, that would be a bonus. For how I ride and where I ride, a big powerful bike is the most fun.

@Toad yes I mean tires. It's been a while since tires were discussed here. Many recommended 190/55s which seem to offer a quicker response than 190/50s. I agree, although I think ti's a very small difference. I also think much of it is each tire make's profile, IE not every tire of the same size (190/50) has the same profile.

I loved the Perelli...something IIs. They weren't the track tire (Super Corsas?)

@Rook to me track days are track days and they are just for fun. They are ONLY for competing against yourself (at most), not really other riders. Racing is racing, and that's a different story. So I say YES to 14R as a track day bike, if nothing else, it'll be a little unique and maybe show a few people HEY this bike CAN TURN TOO.

Edited to fix tire size specifications.

Competing against yourself is a wise way to go about a track day or else you might go home with a pile of junk on your trailer. I'm sure the people who ride in the expert class are more competitive with one another. I wouldn't rush rising in class. I had a blast in the novice class and I still did 130 mph on the short straightaway. Corners? i took them fast enough to scrape my exhaust and that was as fast as i cared to go. I ran off the track once and there I learned my limitations. If i were to do it again, I would prefer to ride a much less valuable bike. It can even be a slow bike. LOL there was one guy who rode a little oil burning beater that didn't do more than 60 mph but he had no concerns about crashing it. All he had to worry about was hurting himself but I'd bet dollars to donuts a person almost always fares better in a crash than the bike. OMG I couldn't bare to crash a beloved street bike. It sucks so bad.

@VicThing , sorry bro , but I am unaware of the 195/55 size tires and the 199/50 , are these some manufacturers slick race tire sizes , or are these size numbers actually marked on the tires as road / sportbike tires . I am only aware of street tires in these sizes , 180/55 , 190/50 , 190/55 , 200/50 , 200/55 ,
200/60 , for 5.5 inch - 6.00 inch street rims .
I do know that if you actually measure some manufacturers tires , you can find some Dunlops for example , are stamped 200 / 55 , but the actual tire measures 208 mm across the tire width , and some other manufactures 200 's are closer to being 190 mm across .
I have seen some amazing footage of at least one rider on a ZZR1400R Euro spec bike ridden on the Nurburgring at an amazing pace on youtube , which only backs the fact that these big Kawasakis can turn pretty well for a hyper sport tourer .

My bad on the tire sizes...yeah I meant 190/55. Haven't been active in this stuff as much as I used to be, and never been quite the same since having covid, or possibly just getting "old". Plus the keyboard I have now isn't nearly as nice as the one I used to have, and that adds a slight additional difficulty.

I've corrected my post, hopefully, to what I meant as far as tire sizes.

With the 190/55 and even more so with the 200/55 , any rise to the rear height from the added tire profile will have some effect , either mildly noticable or more so , dependant on the rider .
Whether a rider seeks this , will most likely be down to their personal preference , style and where you most like to ride .
That high profile tire is a quick , relatively good value mod to add to handling for a lot of riders .

I noticed the change in handling with the 190/55 or 200/55 right away. The initial turn in is quicker. I believe the larger contact patch is safer regardless of what science says, there's a lot of variables in real life that don't line up with textbook physics. I'm riding my stock 14R with the factory tire and I can't complain about the tire height. It really works quite well for me with just a little different feel. The main reason I will always go with a higher rear tire is that it makes the bike look cooler. I spend a good amount of time looking at them. The higher tail is something I notice even if it's just a quarter inch. The sharper profile from the rear also is appealing to my eye. A 190~200/55 adds a pound of rotating mass but the benefit is the change in feel and the look.

For all the money we spend on mods, it's SO SOOOO much fun and intriguing but the bikes kick ass right out of the box. The stock 14 is 10x better than I am. Wind 'er up to 5000 rpm and let her take off, you'll crap your pants! One thing that has to go is the stock exhaust. I mean, you can't even hear it over 70 mph. My Tsukigi was audible at 180 mph.

A good loud aftermarket exhaust adds power and lightens the bike up a huge amount but just in terms of shifting gears, I do that by sound more than anything. I gotta hear it. It definitely adds to the excitement of riding too even if I'm just going slow. I can't see the bike but I hear it and if it sounds cool, I like it.

You are right Rook , the bike in stock form is fast and better than myself too . If I could resist the urge to modify my bikes , I , as many can attest , would be rich . Also , I could then trade on after a few years to a new bike etc....because I haven't put my heart and soul into the bike . But no, instead , I have lavished a 4 machine love affair , and with no end in sight .
Rook , we know you are starting such a affair again now , as you have before , lmao , so we watch the mods list grow .

Exhaust and wheels will be the main ones but there will be a lot of small parts between those two. Turbo one day!

Do you plan on keeping the 2024 ECU/Fueling stock or you have plans to run a Power Commander or do it yourself and go the Woolich Racing Flash/Logbox route?
