wheels

I'd like some good feedback on those who've installed BST wheels. What parts I need...and is it a hassle to convert over...sprocketwise and all?Was also looking at the Tri spoke wheels from....(I can't remember just now)..Thanks guys.

Well..I opted for the Carrozarria Tri Spoke wheels instead.Comes with all the hardware...rotors...all of it.Not BST's...but fine for my wants.Always wanted some mass reducing with the wheels...these should be fine. Was a shade leary about BST's and tire installs...update....5 spoke wheels. They stopped making the 3's for the Busa and 14's.

Grn14 the BST wheel are for sure the very best mod you can do to the bike if you’re a performance guy. They make the bike feel like it’s a much smaller bike. I went with the wheel and the ceramic bearings then added the Galfer Super Bike rotors and to top it off I bought titanium rotor and caliper bolts from tasty nuts. I couldn’t be happier. I have had them on the bike for about 20,000 miles through all sorts of road and dirt roads! Lol Also I’m a huge wheelie guy so don’t worry that they can’t take a beating cuz it’s just not the case. Go for it you will not be sorry!

Grn only complaint I have is they are pain to keep clean, and I can't go just any where for a tire change. When they are dirty no one notices them, which is nice

Somefun,I try to keep them waxed so that I can clean off the nasty shit without solvents.I like the Motul clean&shine.when they get dusty and dirty I don't care, helps the bike keep a lower profile.Hate being 1000km away from home and having my bike on the the most desirable steal list.Bought my rear sets off a member, actually thought about leaving them in the smoking shed then clear coating them after they got a nice nicotine coating .You must be up around 195 hp with those mods?

Darryle your bike looks great for sure! I was thinking of buying the same green and then painting the lower section to match the rest of the bike. I love that green for sure! I use the mothers quick detailer on the wheels and it works great for sure. I would only use that or soap and water or plexus from cycle gear. The plexus is very fast and easy and works real good. Nice and easy.

BST wheels are teh bomb, but as someone mentioned, above, don't let just anyone change tires on them.

Part of the reason I got a tire changer is the C14 has tire pressure monitors, and there are plenty of stories of shops breaking one as they spooned the tire. If I do it myself with a Mojo Bar, I can be sure not to damage the sensors.

Someday when I hit the lottery, it will either be BST or Marchesini cast magnesium. I had those on my ZX11 and they are extremely light also.

Well..I opted for the Carrozarria Tri Spoke wheels instead.

I think that is a good way to go for the cost aspect. I have to really dig in again and figure out the exact difference in weights between the Tri-Rs and the BSTs. I had it figured out about as much is possible what with all of the different variables that people throw in when weighing wheels. I am pretty sure the BSTs are a still quite a bit lighter than the Carros but for the money, The CArros are much more bang for the $.

If I am impressed with the feel of the Carros, I will get BSTs for the busa. CF is nice but anodized aluminum makes me swoon. The Carro anodizing is very nice and I hear it holds up well. Congrats on the wheels and the new bike Grn. I can't wait to see your hot new baby.

update....5 spoke wheels. They stopped making the 3's for the Busa and 14's.

WHAT! No more Tri-Rs for the hyperbikes??? uh-oh. I can guess why. Any stories to share?

"AS used by Rickey Gadson to win the 2012 MIROCK championship and his 10TH career championship! Stock ZX14R wheels are very heavy. Our wheels offer a HUGE weight savings over stock. *** Front rotor delete option avalible for free - this is a custom request and is only avalible when ordered direct*** *** 6.25in rear option avalible at no additional charge*** V-Track wheel sets includes: all necessary bearings, distance tubes, wheel spacers, rotors carrier and sprocket carrier installed. All wheel set will require a different from stock sprocket (except ZX6R, ZX10R and ZX12R) All wheel sets available in gloss black, machine silver, bright gold, electric blue and wine red."....V-Track.....no Tri-R-spokes.Tri-R Spokes stop at 2010.(for the zx14).They are still available for those year models.

One thing a lot of these sites do is say.."zx14R"....the earlier bikes are not "R's".It's confusing for some people. The listing for the 14R 2012 shows a pic of the V-Tracks.(which I thought I would like...but they're just too many spokes for my tastes....)I wanted a minimalist appearance...not more 'clutter'.

No Romes...I cancelled the order...I don't want the V-Tracks.I wanted the Tri-R's.My bad.Maybe by Summer they'll be making those for the 14R....

I was a little worried that you may have ordered them. The tone wheel does not fit the 14R bolt pattern. This is why I did not order them. Their Rotor based on CBR 1000. UGH. To Bad, Best buy for the money out there IMO.

Still waiting to see Rook's installed ?

Still waiting to see Rook's installed ?

Got my freaky orange sprocket all painted up. Galfer rear rotor is on. Now working on precise method to dremmel a sliver off of each side of the Bridgeport valve stems so they will seat flush to the rim inside that channel on the Tri-Rs.

As you can see in this pic, there is an O-ring that seals the Brpt valve stem against the outside of the rim but that channel holds the valve stem off the rim. The CZ valve stems also are held off the rim in the same way but they have a thick gasket taht seals against the inside of the rim. This pic shows the in-rim gasket I made for for the Bprt. It should seal from the inside as well as the O-ring that seals on the outside. I have had issues with Bprt valve stems slow leaking on my OEM rim. Don't know if it is the tire bead or the valve stem yet but thought I'd go he extra step with the CZ rims since they are made to seal from inside anyway.

The 14 will be sporting the glistening blue gems come Spring.....just wait...pics on the way
