THose of you who do have more than one machine, do you find it a bit time consuming to keep em all ridden regularly?

I know most of us have to work to pay for what we have, and I've been debating over getting a second bike, but in all seriousness, I think ( just my opinion, of course ) that alot of the appeal of a second (or third) bike is merely the fun of owning another bike you really like and enjoy just *having* and riding here and there.

There is no way,as I see it, that a guy can work a full time job, do what he needs around the house, spend time with his family, and keep two bikes ridden enough to warrant ownership for both of them......unless it is, as I stated, mostly for the sheer joy of just having another bike you really like.

And there is nothing wrong with that. I know I wouldn't have nearly as much 14R riding time if I got a second bike, but so what? I'd be able to switch back and forth, and enjoy the attributes that each had to offer. But I'd be riding each only half as often. But, life is meant to be enjoyed in whatever means you can, right? ANd if someone wants to own so many bikes he can't even keep em all clean, so be it!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the long post, and any input is appreciated and taken into consideration as I continue to contemplate this decision. LOL

I travel 60 miles one way to work so I do get to ride a good bit. It sucks that its to work and back but at least Im still riding.

I have 2 very different bikes and that is how I justify it. I have my 2012 zx14 and 2002 vtx 1800 cruiser and its really nice to get off one and right on to the other. I have to be honest tho, I don't get to ride as much as I think I should to justify one motorcycle. But like you said, you have to life and enjoy life. I have my family, friends and my bikes, in that order.

My two are so different, it was a no-brainer.

Free time is certainly scarce for me. But, the Husky isn't really suited for lots of road miles with 3000 mile valve checks and 12,000 mile cam chain replacements. Throw in a near 90-mile round trip to work eer day and you burn up those miles quickly!

The Husky can't be replaced. They aren't made any more. So, I keep it around for dirt duty and shorter rides. The 14 is for the road!

Not at all ! I ride three days per week, one day for each bike. The ZX14R gets no more riding time than the others.
My favorite is the one I happen to be riding at the time, though the 02 Aprilia might be a very slight sentimental favorite.

Then again, I'm retired and have lots of time for riding !!

Tom

It's Thursday, an Aprilia day !

Corporate had a display out at some race last year and I asked to sit on the busa. I asked the sales guy what's the valve lash interval and he gets an ex mechanic that is now part of the sales team. We talk shop and then segway up to what Suz is going to do with the product line? He begins to tell me the whole cc fleet call it, will be revamped with all new models.

So when he said 'all' I sort of lumped that into thinking Suz had 2006 to think up something to compete with if we are talking in that 2012 time frame and have yet to hear Suz go into chap 11 is it? Chapter 11 is restructure and stay in business. Chap 7 is pay off your creditors and shut the doors? Something like that? So already, Suz comes out with 3 different chopper choices with the same engine family.

That I saw a few days ago as Suz brings out the line for 2014 that is. So wait for the trickle down or it's one big hype for the last model to come out and [crosses the fingers] the power wars have yet to end.

That's why I bought the 14, got tired of suzuki not doing much of anything with the busa and 1k, they seemed to be putting more R&D into the 600 and 750, I know the auto division was going red for a while, but really, put money into the 600 and 750, before the busa and 1K ? also hardly any suz dealers around, and I live in So. CA ! and the ones I did contact, NONE of them even gave me a real quote ....

Suzi Busa,
Hate me or not, I just don't like the look or ride of the Busa. Fits tooo small and the bullbous sillouette does nothing for me either. The bike is in serious need of a face lift.

If they bring out a whole new line, my guess is the Busa remains or it Gen's into ??? and that means a facelift with [typical yuckinnees] paneling and [a prize or praised] engine config.

Just the one bike right now and she's referred to as "the 14"

Looking for a second, but that will be track only.

I'm envious of some of the garages you guys have

Sounds like that makes two of us looking to add a BMW S1000RR to our garage!
