My ZX14 felt like a minibike!
05/23/09 10:28 PM

I test rode a Victory Hammer today as part of their traveling road show. They were at Kent Powersports in San Antonio owned by Jeff Kent former Pro Baseball player with the LA Dodgers. The Hammer is a bit smaller than some of their other models. This is the bike that has the 250mm rear tire, and skinny front, and 106 ci engine. What a DIFFERENT style of bike. I was wondering where the motor was as I am used to instant torque, and rev-ability to the moon and back. However, I started off and was immediately impressed with it's size! I mean I felt at home! It's big, brutal, and sounds wicked cool (it had performance pipes on it) and it takes tremendous effort to steer it, not too much for me as I am weighing in at 250+ these days, and at 6"2, but, it took a steady pull on the bar to initiate the understeer. Forget front brakes on this bike even though it has two disks, use the back brake. It's got a good squirt of power at about 3500 rpm to the 5100 redline...yeah, 5100 (or close to it) redline! The 6th gear is way high, never need it unless you are just 'cruising'.

I think my next bike is going to be one of these big cruisers, that will nearly round out my stable (our stable) of bikes to chose from; CBR954 (track), WR450, ZX-14, and Ducati 800SS, and of course the little NSR50 and TTR230 as 'play toys'.

Toe, you are too funny!! I needed a good HA-HA today to start the morning.

Donny, They have rules for trackday cruisers. Gotta have a chain from wallet to leather pants or they won't let you on.

and it takes tremendous effort to steer it...

No shit about getting up there in size, I am working at getting back down to 220. Business is slow now, dealing with ass wipes that don't want to pay really caused me to tighten my shot group, mechanics lien everything, etc. I am putting the word out; Chopped n Diced in Seguin TX is a rip off cheap bastard no good for nothing dirt scum bag establishment and I don't recommend anyone going there, doing anything with them, period.

More like, DonnyWeldinGone!

Sarge? Let me tell you today's event is how the morning went. We are chasing parts for his bike. So, we are talking on the way to the last swap meet I am going to. We are done with every part needed for the bike. Anyway, we are talking about his chopper scene; tells me a, 'well known' chopper outfit builds their own chassis.

Guy is riding this, 'alleged brand' because I hear a story and that to me is what is going around and I will not mention the place is to start roomers> Anyway, the neck breaks, rest of the bike dives to the ground, guy loses a leg. Don't know if he lost it on the road or later?

The point is, you throw a lot of force on that hinge, do you not? Walk away, or lose those pounds the hard way, DonnyDieToeless.

Huh? I didn't buy the bike, nor am I planning on it. I don't like the fat rear tire, it's not good to drive with it, countersteering is not natural.

Donny, One of the guys I ride with has the Victory Vegas. He got so tired of my brothers M109R kicking his ass that he just got LLoyd's to install a 110 kit. Bike now has 136 Hp and 119 ft lbs of torque. This is allot better than any Harley. As far as cruisers go this one might be fun.
