2nd time someone wanted to race...
12/06/12 9:04 AM

This morning I was at the dragstrip, and by "dragstrip" I mean the desolate stretch of road on the way to work. A guy on a very customized Vrod is waiting at the light. I cordially return the "good morning." and wait for the green. Neither of us blip the throttle. I never do. We take off from the light with no other vehicles in sight and no crossroads ahead. I see out of the corner of my eye, this guy is in full tuck and slamming through the gears. Are we racing? I was so uncertain. I was only in third. Still uncertain we were racing I notice we are going 95. Damn I wish I knew whether or not we were racing. Oh well at 100 he is still in full tuck so i hammered it. You all know what happens then.
When he finally pulled up next to me at the next light, he says "Man, that thing has a second wind."
I will say it was very fast for a Harley.

Motorcycles are perfectly safe, as long as you don't fall off and you don't get hit by anything...

And only an unenlightened Harley owner would think it was only "second wind". Anyone who actually knows about motorcycles would know you spent more time wondering about him than racing him. ROFL

Two or three years ago when I was at a bike week, there were drag races on a 2-lane asphalt "farm" road, and I went over with my ZX14. Some jerk with a blinged out Harley with an obvious S&S and straight pipes made a crack about my carbon fiber jap bike. So I suggested, courteously, that we race down to the next intersection, 2 miles away.

I left that piece of shit so far in the dust that I was on the way headed BACK to where we started after turning around before I passed him coming the other way.

I like Harley-Davidson bikes a lot, don't get me wrong. But many of the riders don't know jack about motorcycles beyond how to put gas in one and how to start it, shift it, and use the hand controls.

I refuse to fight an unarmed man ! LOL !

I really don't care what anyone wants to ride, to each their own, but when they start talking crap about "jap" bikes or "rice burners" when they (harleys) are clearly an inferior product, it pisses me off

"didja ask him how it helped his Harley?"

No, didnt want to go there HA HA ! might get away with putting that stuff in a harley, but dont think the big ninja, or any other sportbike, would like it, not good for the old clutch plates !

If I was riding a vrod there is no way in hell I would jump on a 14. The fact that one would shows extreme ignorance. By the time I hit 100 he would have been a distant memory.

You know...I actually ONCE put some marvel oil in my 07 fuel.I saw no difference...but it claims you can add it to fuel to clean stuff up in your system. It wasn't much...maybe an ounce.I did try it for chain cleaning a few times on my 07.Worked okay...I guess.I don't know what would happen to o-rings over the long run cleaning with marvel...I wasn't gonna chance it anyhow.Never heard of anyone using it for chain cleaning. It cleaned the chain though. But I'll stick with kerosine.

lol I take who ever think they can compete, 250's, vans whatever. I just get some separation and then use the brake, let them pass, looking at them, shaking my head like saying to them you're such a waste of my time!

Ah! That must've been humiliating for that guy, seeing as how he was the one bad mouthing your bike.
