Riding the 14R is DIFFERENT than riding any other motorcycle. I have been noticing tidbits of genius in some of y'all's posts. So I am gonna grab that shit when I see it and throw it together under here so we can all learn from one another. I cordially invite anyone else whom feels they see a riding tip or any input, AS IT PERTAINS TO THE 'R', and riding the frickin piss out of her, to POST IT UP. Technical shit we can use. Not 'blow the doors off'. That's the 'who we eat thread' see.

I slipped off the side of the seat, short shifted into 3rd and rolled on the power. I pull the bike in nice and tight and line him up down the inside. As I straddle the line, he's all over the place and I just kept feeding on the power, going past him at nearly twice his speed with the front dancing on the deck. I'm sure I saw him flinch on my way past, and I just kept feeding on the power, disappearing around the next corner and beyond (WHOOOOOF!!), just another victim. "Well that was fun"

I guess it'll be okay...long as some don't think it's some sort of bash against the Gen1's....been there,done that.I have to agree here...this bike IS different in handling and railing and carving.I shifted down from 5th to third approaching a nice medium radius curve.New Rear tire on there...today.Powered in and leaned my asscheek over the inside...outside leg and knee firmly pulling the tank over to the inside.The shifts were so smooth,no clutch,and the fuel just poured....opened her up some more,hitting that apex now and skirting the right side of the yellow line,more fuel....more lean in.That rear tire held like a SOB.Dug deeper and slid back in the bowl a inch or so....she held even harder with my weight back just a bit and powered out and straightened her up...big throttle now....shifting up into 4th...no ease up...and on into 5th...tucked in...cutting the wind.130...140....160...ready now for the next right hander...it's perfect,slightly banked.Set myself over that saddle,lean in...grip with my knees....ease up on the bars...power on through that right hander and use the rail for my line of sight and on out to the straight....breathtaking this bird rolls so smooth and strong.Don't want to slow down;)...just go FASTER...and lean harder,and apex tighter.Tiptoe that shoulder white line....straight lines right through those s's.

This bike would never handle these speeds on something like the Dragon...but here....these roads are perfect for this machine.Big...fast....

After 6 years on my 07 ZX14, this bike has opened up another level of game. Now if I want to enjoy what this bike offers, I'm going to have to lift my game. I think that's where my point is. I've started asking more questions, reading more tips and stepping it up a notch. As the rider, I can make the bike do much more than a few bolt on parts can. Still more than a few lbs here and a turn there. This bike is such a capable teacher, both gently correcting mistakes, and brutally slapping your face. All you have to do is learn how to listen before you get yourself into too much trouble. I have to accept responsibility for learning how to use it better. I have to be humble and ready to learn. This bike is just an extension. I see it like owning a razor sharp carving knife. It's dangerous and useless unless I learn how to use it efficiently and safely.
My riding tip here is to relax and make it happen. Don't think about it too much.
I'm ready to get schooled.

See if I have any notes real quick...

I say practice on corners marked anywhere from like 20-50mph, kinda second gear and practice being smooth with 3rd gear. One ass cheek off! Every corner, split your ass with the seat edge. All corners. Make it habit. Make ur transition a draaaaaag across the seat not a lift and plant so much. When lift plant use for hard acceleration into a straight. Always triangle knee for balance, don't care if it never touches, balance is the key, smooth, athletic, balletic. Smooth on throttle. Throttle stabilizes chassis. I use tc-1 a lot. I can get hard 3 foot high first gear wheelies out of 20-25 mile corners before tc puts it back down smoothly as I power shift 2nd, no clutch, slight blip at 10200, Padow. But start slow see, start smooth with third gear using torque and focusing on body position, 1 ass cheek off, light on the wrists aggressive. It'll start to flow. Be carefull. Take it in steps. Be clinical. Be precise. Then in shorter time than you realize, you will be exploiting things. I like race tracks. But I hate confines. And I love speed. Most racetracks ya can't get more than about 150. That's like 4th. I like to let her eat. I like what 180+ feels like.

The really cool thing(one of em anyway)about this motor...it starts living as the rpms get to about 6K...maybe more or less...and she'll climb so fast that it's easy to get right on up to like you said...very.170....180...just as smooth as can be.This motor sings fer sure and the bodywork rocks the faster you go.Amazing how the aeros on this bike can really be felt...like seat position...very sensitive.They tweaked the chassis on this baby...I can feel it just becoming as one when I'm riding.Totally cool and encouraging.Definitely has a dance to her.
