yr 2.25 is an upshift, i have no issue with upshift. my norm is unload box and shift, if i shift with clutch its with minimal lever, not full or even half throw, maybe quarter, morelike a fifth
if feels like the leading edge of the gear is grabbing the other and getting pulled in before the gear lever goes full throw- which probably you guys will call lazy at the throw, the gear is engaged before lever is fully pressed, i have noticed this happening, but probably more so as i try and find my way around what im not liking about how it downshifts, so, ill give it some fast lever action and see how it feels

Also mine goes into first with a clunk... most i have ever felt on one of my streetbikes... does kawasaki have issues with their trannys.... never had that many kaw street bikes... i hope thats not the case.

Hope to do the run in on friday..... but im not sure oil can make that much of a different.

May want to buy the ext warranty with this monster... nice how you have a year to decide...still the best looking std out there...... with the best sporting goods.

94 miles rotella 15/40
294 miles rotella 15/40 800/850 miles tranny not want to down shift that easy.

910 miles installed 4 Qt. Mobil One mc oil 10w40.... have to see come friday if feels and better on the down shifts.

1st gear clunk is normal ,we aint referring to that, kawasaki do not have gearbox issues, most bikes/manufacturers dont

Greetings everyone. Been lurking for a while and just thought I'd first post with an input on this thread.

Motero,

I too find the downshift on the new 14 less than sweet. This is my first Kawasaki since my '88 ZX10 (called the Tomcat 1000 I believe in the US) and the RX1000 before that and,in this context, the new 14 feels EXACTLY as I remember them. I've formed the opinion that it's just how they are although I have not experienced the pulsing through the change lever that you mention. With over 4000m on the clock now I've sort of adapted my riding style to try and unload the box as much as possible on downshifts to acheive a smoother change and it works to some degree but, IMO, it will NEVER be as slick as the boxes in the Suzuki's I've owned. Hope your 'problem' turns out not to be so.

Ive had a thou rx and 2 zx12 plus couple of zxr, and quite a few zookis, I know suzukis are sweeter, this is something I have never felt before in any gearchange.

Never did get to try the mobil one mc oil...... it's a long story..... but here's is a clue don't try using a mobil one oil filter when the bike shops are closed...

Air lock on the oil light ......... anyways decided not to run rotella anymore.... and i picked up some valvoline mc oil reg 10w/40 and within 20 to 30 miles the bike started to downshift better.... maybe there is something to mc oil after all.

Well, no one chimed in so I will.
The transmission in the photo is missing a gear on the input shaft... most likely the drive member for second gear.
Its a six speed trans. The driven shaft has all six... the drive shaft has only five.
