The only time I'd ever think of running is at night. There are a good amount pry 30-40 sport bikes in town but your probably right.

I'm almost ready to post pics of my 101 mph speeding ticket.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. That happened because I started thinking they didn't really bother about bikes going a little fast. If you're going to it don't let yourself start thinking it's ordinary. Crazy shit starts to seem commonplace after you do it a few dozen times then it's just the norm. Stay in the real world, Trc. Step out into hyperspace every now and again if you're sure its safe. oh I have lots of good street racing stories. not so much since i got busted.

You can't run at night. FLEAR has been in use for decades. Infrared. Low Light Amplification.

Its not the old Smoky bear in the air with stopwatch, and hasn't been for a long time.

They can track you in mountains on roads with no illuminations whatsoever.

And ask Rook what a speeding ticket does to your wallet, your insurance, and your enjoyment of motorcycling.

I understand youthful exhuberance, I'm just saying don't let your bs cloud your judgement and make you a target for a big ticket, or worse.

I almost got a 20 over two seasons ago, riding my ZX14 to Bowie MD for the Ticket 2 Ride event. Which was the day I decided I was getting a Concours 14. But anyway, I saw the "photo radar" sign and nailed the front brake, and ended up 2 mph over the trip speed, so I got a $40 ticket. Could have been $100 or more easy if I had not reacted.

I downloaded the picture from the photoradar contractor's website, you can see the bike's nose is diving under hard braking. Its actually funny and I kept the jpeg to remind me how easy it is to end up getting billed for big bucks.

Photoradar is showing up in places where there isn't even a police presence or very little of one. Its an easy way for county governments to make good revenue. Nobody refuses to pay, if you pay it is not part of your driving record and insurance won't see it. If you refuse, it becomes a real speeding ticket.

Anyway, there are times to get on it, but they need to be brief. If you get caught on film doing over 100 mph in a 55 or 65 mph zone, its a lot of money. If you get on film doing in excess of 120 you may lose your license. The cops are serious about this, too.

Ask Rook.

125 in a 55 =

2 nights in jail
$500 bond
$900 Ticket
Loss of license for 1 year

Was it worth it?

No!

Whenever and wherever you speed make damn sure you enjoy it. Cause it may be the very last time you drive anything for a long time.

Also you are not alone out there. Everyone has a cell phone and can take pic's, video and even call and report on you so the cops already have enough shit to target you on that day or whatever day the see you out.

I dont wanna ruin your buz either but when your riding like that your gonna get caught sooner or later. Speed is an addiction just like sex... Learn to control it or its gonna cost you everything... even your life...

You can always say hey I was doing what I love....

Be careful...

"have to look out for in the 14R any bikes or cars?".... What kind of question is THAT??????

I think I'm travelling through the twilight zone or something. Here is a discussion about "who's faster than my bike"?You guys...PLEASE...get out and do some riding will ya? Sheesh!

What the heck topic IS this????You speed...you pay.Period.Go as fast as ya want....whenever ya want....just be ready to pull over and smile and say..."Guilty...how much?"

Gotta be one of the top 5 strangest questions I've ever read around here

"only time I would think about running is at night".....WHAT?????Do everyone a favor.....stop riding fast if you're 'planning' on running sometime...will ya?

Loss of license for 1 year

dude, 6 points and it is 15 days. Try that and see how bad it sucks. If you are like me with no close by family, you have school a/o work to get to and it's 15 miles away??? what do you do? cab costs a $100 to do a 30 mile round trip. If you live in the city you get in your car and drive on eggshells only when you have to. Get caught in suspension and you are screwed. Small town, there really better be no cops that see you do that cuz they will know your car.

We all have these machines and most of us have to go fast. You really have to be careful about where and when like you said. If you're doing over 100 and the cop thinks you are a good guy just out joy riding not racing or endangering other motorists, he might reduce your driving in excess of 120 mph down to 101 but it still is a horrible ticket and you want to talk about a buzz kill????? Shhhhhiiiiii- get one of those 100+. It was almost 2 years ago. I don't think I touched 100 on the street last year except maybe twice and the thrill of speed was already overshadowed by fear of being seen by a cop. I started track riding. You could do a lot of track days for the total cost of ins hike, ticket cost, legal bills.....(thank God is Xanax pretty inexpensive)lol.

Go fast. I love when people go fast. If you know what you're doing and you can do it without jeopardizing others out on the road I say --go fast as hell!!! Just because you're a bro, I say be super careful out there. Cops are the biggest threat. I guess that is how it is supposed to be.

If you are going to take your chances, you have to know what your odds are. Stakes are high on the street. Don't ever take a big risk.

The only time I go crazy fast (like hitting the limiter the other day) I could see for miles in all directions and there was no cars around. When I race i'll find an abandoned road or any of the normal roads at 1 a.m the whole town becomes deserted. I appreciate everyones concern but I know when to play and when not to and trust me when I tell you there isn't a helicopter that they could bring. They only one they have is the hospitals and by the time they saw me and lit me up I'd be gone taking so mant turns they would never find me and bt the time they get a heli scrambled I'd have it in my dads shop sitting outside with a cold beverage laughing at them. I'm not always like that, like this summer on the 5,000 mile roadtrip my father and I are going on. There will be little or no speeding i'll be focusing on enjoying the ride.

To answer yer question...the original one...NO CARS can catch you....period.Few bikes would even attempt to keep up.Running at night would be the WORST possible decision you could ever make....right next to running period.

Trc, google Murph's Kits (it will find him immediately). There are two kits he sells, the Rostra electronic cruise control is premo. Or do you mean just a simple throttle holder ?

Not too smart. Motorola radio signals travel near the speed of light. Two cops sitting with there cars nose to nose blocking the road with Remington Road Blocker 10 gauges with extended mags pointed at you.

Running adds 1) reckless driving, 2) flight, 3) increased speed added on, 4) reckless endangerment, etc.

I.E. trip to jail in handcuffs, bike impounded.

Keep doing it, you'd find out I'm right in the worst possible way.

Is it true that ninja style motorcycles can outrun police helicopters?

@ your age TRC, my bike had a "trick plate", toggle to kill the tail light, and I had an extra set of fairings so that I could change the look of my bike in an afternoon. Would bet the naysayers had similar setups as well.

You are a young guy in possession of the baddest production motorcycle ever produced... It's up to you to answer your own question. ... Just keep it shiny side up, and have a good lawyer on speed dial.

When you think you have it figured out, do a track day... The answer will change when you get passed in a corner by a 12 year old and a 60 year old on cb125's.

I'll be fine. I'm not running unless I'm going to jail and have a reason to and even then I would probably stop to see the officers generosity. I didn't bring cops up someone else did. I was asking who could beat me with my size. And a Motorola is worthless if theres no cop in that direction for 30 miles.

Although it's really at the officer's discretion, general rule here (Washington State) is 25mph over is gonna get you a Reckless charge. Reckless is a Gross Misdomeanor, so your bike is getting towed and you're getting booked. If/when convicted, 30 days suspended(w/o a hardship clause), some big fines, and up to a year in jail. First offense you'll likely serve a day or two.

Now in Oregon, I was written up for 25 over (was actually 35-40 over, IIRC) and did not even have to make a mandatory court appearance. Just pay the fine... And in Cali, I was pulled over doing 100 in a 60 and just told to watch out for elk. So your mileage may vary.

I'm not condoning anything but I agree with the helicopter thing. Lincoln doesn't even have one. They borrow one from Omaha from time to time. So you're safe there.

My friend went to jail for 85 in a 45 thats not that fast 100 in a 65 would be jail around here.

I guess I'm a lucky guy because during my last run in with the law, I never got on the radar lol Ghost protocol lol
The officer told the judge I kept disappearing so he never got a lock on me. BUT the funny thing is that he also told the judge that in the academy they learn to estimate a vehicle speed and that I was going about 90 mph in a 40 mph. When he pulled me over He told me I wouldn't go to jail just cause I "finally" stopped! Lesson learned: Don't take the bike when you're running late to work. I'm glad I am in Austin, I get on twisty roads and don't have to push it too hard to get a buzz. Plus we have a lot of group rides. BE safe Trc, I can't tell your blood is turning green, welcome to the dark force... If you survive this you will learn!

About running away.... hmmm I have gotta admit if you're doing $190 mph on a road like the one from Utah to Vegas (I believe) and you go pass a cop who was on the side of the highway you may as well continue lol just don't run out of gas loool

.....if they are not behind you, how the hell you know they are after you?

If they obviously are behind you, no excuse. OK sorry for stirring up this little sh!t storm. I believe you know what you are doing Trc. Never hurts to plant a little seed. I will be going fast too, somehow. but believe me I won't be acting like the law is not getting broken because then I will be getting careless with the greatest danger we speed junkies face.

Just keep it shiny side up, and have a good lawyer on speed dial.

seriously, planning ahead is not a bad idea. Know what you are getting into. This is serious stuff so take it seriously.

One last thing and i will STFU. My atty cost me $700. Without a very costly professional witness assessment of laser/distance/target/origin tangents, not much he could do with the prosecution other than beg and say what a nice guy I am. In the end, I think they all got together and said this:

The old bastard never has been in any trouble and the officer (older bastard) already gave him the lowest mph that was registered over the half mile bastard A was clocked. he has spent over $1000 on this. Lets not make his life worse since it is pretty obvious he is going to remember this

Darryle: How can you ride a ZX 14 in Ontario?! 30 mph over is a racing charge?

To be sure you don't accidently break that law, you need to trade your rides in for a fleet of Vespas!
