Hmmm...well...yeah.Sometimes.Got my new BT003 on the front today.SWEET tire....I'm hooked.(back's a BT003 as well).

But that's not this post.Anyway...I'm coming back from East Glacier park this afternoon.Up ahead....3 harleys.I pull in behind em.As usual. They're just cruisin along...as usual.Bout this time, the right lane opens up....okay.They start pullin over into it(as usual). That last guy,ya...he starts gassin it (kinda).WHOOOOPS!....OFF flies the DO-RAG!!!!(remember that post ya'll?)Geez...what's a brother to do.He couldn't catch it in time.Kept on goin.

Well shit....We can't have em losin there identity now...can we.Ya...you guessed it...the Jap Crap ridin rice burner guy HAS to turn around and "rescue" his precious.Blast on back...maybe a 1/4 mile or so.Stop on the median.Pick up his prized possession.Yup.Back in the saddle...BLAZIN on up to catch em.They got a pretty good drop on me...but I managed to catch em just as they were gettin ready to turn right.Pulled up alongside there, pulled that puppy outta my pocket there....'it's a handoff'...."Thanks Man".

My 'good deed' to the Do-Raggers today.

Now...back to the tires.AWESOME...I won't be using anything else for a good while. These things are vicious! If ya like sticky buns....these are yer huckleberries!BTW...you know how I've posted about "wiggle" during high speed cornering and leaning? That's GONE.I'd say IF you begin to get what I had.....time for a new front at least.Had tread still left on that Angel ST....but now I'm pretty sure she had been slippin....that's what was goin on...NOT my suspension.Just thought I'd pass that along if anyone's may be interested.Ride safe all.(just about have the front tire sides scrubbed all the way to the sidewall. That's a first right there! )

Probably should have posted this in Pictures...but,what the heck...today's ride..the Continental Divide(the real one)

Btw...the ONLY chain lube that actually STAYS were I put it is Maxima Chain Wax.Put it on warm.Let sit overnight.PERFECTO.Virtually NOTHING flinging ever.(good stuff).I tried several...Bel-Ray's the WORST!!!Maxima Chain Guard is not much better.Silkolene is good, but it will fling, just not near as bad as those other two.Sheesh.Amazing thing though...those others clearly say"will not fling off"...how the heck can they print that crap?!!!!Completely.....WRONG.

I got to find out what my dealer's service department put on mine when I had the major service done two weeks ago.

It looked like they gooped it on when I picked the bike up, but nothing flung off, not a spot on the rims or anywhere. Like it just worked into the chain completely.

Your tires are, of course, just about the best you can get for stickiness without being illegal on the street. Heh.

Just called my service department, they used Maxima Chain Wax on it, so I guess thats same as you like, so I'll get some.

blue; I did the same thing. Saw a dooragger up ahead make a grab for something, and I saw it slide to the side. Checked my mirrors, nothing behind me, so I stopped. They were sunglasses, he was illegal without em, so I picked em up and blasted to catch him. Three bikers were pulled to the side, so I started to slow, and the guy steps into the road, flagging me down. I pull over to hand him his glasses, and he starts giving me crap for trying to steal them. So I did.

"trying to steal them"...what a douche. Some people's kids Wonder when was the last time a Do-Ragger did ANYTHING for a guy with a sportbike?Course,we're not the ones sittin by the side of the road either...that may have somethin to do with it! I kinda get a kick outta stoppin for em sometimes...like...you know...'asshole sportbiker stops for Badazz Harley guy' kinda thing. They normally look 'kinda' surprised when ya ask em if everything's okay. What a hoot! They'd probably NEVER look at a killer ninja up close...so's I give em a free look when I can. They never see shit when I'm passin of course...just this blue missile goin by.Pretty as ya please!I'm wonderin what they think with my American Flags on my flanks, and my 'Kawasaki" label on my tank as I throttle up for liftoff

Well...it was....Kawasaki to the rescue again today.Rollin along....bout the speed limit.Saw the guy up ahead on the cruiser...ya...GOT to catch him ya know?Come round the bend....TWO Harleys sittin on the roadside.Cruiserboy rolls right on by.Me...you know...the Poser Prick with the Jap crotch rocket...ya...I slows and stops. They're do-raggers.Yup.Older guys...mid 50's maybe. One guy leaned in talkin to the other guy whose bent down checkin out the frontend.Ya....Okay....Tells me his battery went KAPUT while ridin.Good one minute...then,sputterin and coughin and,well....dying.Can't restart.DEAD.VERY.The other guy who stopped wasn't doin him any good.Couldn't seem to figure out....BING BING...how about a JUMP?Hmmm.Gotta love it.Bro says the battery is new....worked fine earlier.Hmmmm....okay.

I say..."I've got no cables...BUT...how bout I run on up the road a tad to the fuel store there and see IF I can get ya some cables.?"

"Okay...sounds good".(mind you,he's been sittin there for two hours)Purty blue and white Harley.Nice.The other guy don't have a clue what to do.Ya...okay...so's I get on my rice burner...you know...my Jap Crap.Shift up and I'm gone.Hit that store in about 25 seconds or so...ya...what's 70 mph again?Anyway....clerk inside says..."yeah,here's some cables"...

"Okay...great...can I use em just for a minute to get this guy goin with his bike?"
"Yeah,no prob".

SWEET!!!!He'll be rollin in NO time.I'm feelin good now...gettin to help a fellow biker.

Get back over there...25 seconds or so.Park my bike up next to his.The other guy couldn't bring himself to roll his badazz electraGlide up and use HIS battery.Ya...okay..s'all good. The Ninja will handle this one thank you.(ya...the Blue one that's now parked paralell with Dude's.Partly in the driving lane(there was no real shoulder).Ah...he gave me the consoling words of"man, don't get yer ass knocked off with those oncoming cars now"...thanks my man..."I won't,don't worry".

So we gets er charged up some.I ask how long he's been there.2 hours.Okay...gotta most likely pull the choke.Yup.Okay.This whole scenario looks MIGHTY FAMILIAR.Anyway,he's tellin me how this wire connector was loose, unplugged. He shows me.The other guy...he's tryin his best to 'explain' what it is we're lookin at.DA DA!....yep...been there, done that."It's your rectifier plug my man.She won't recharge while yer rollin without that little guy plugged in.I know...mine did the same thing.Only I spent 200 bucks for a tow...and the Harley dealer charged me at least half that to 'tell me what was wrong"....he never DID figure out the plug was disconnected!I found that out on a fluke really.

So I tell my man what's up with the thing....tell him how he could just gently oval the little male end there, plug er in...she'll never pop loose again.Ya...he's all smiles .

So anyway....we charge er up fpr about 5 minutes or so....cranks the starter...pops right over....runnin like a...well...potatoe potatoe potatoe...you know...that genuine Harley trademark sound.I'm happy...he's happy....numbnuts still couldn't get it that some rice burner was actually stopped for the guy...and actually FIXED his AMERICAN IRON.Too funny!I love ridin. You never know WHAT yer gonna see.

Dude offered me lunch.

"Nah,it's cool...glad we got er goin"...can't have a fellow biker sittin on the side of the road when there's curves an such to carve! It was a GREAT DAY again!I LOVE my Ninja rice burner!!!!!

Oh yeah...that other guy that stopped to 'help'...ya...had a nice girl with him.She was kinda...well....impressed would be too strong a word...but....her badazz boyfriend didn't know SHIT about jumpin a bike or figuring out how to get s set of cables .You know, one o' those "manly men".

You know....ridin a Crotch Rocket,a bigazz Ninja....it's ALWAYS a pleasure helpin a stranded rider.Always.

blue07; The HD boys around here are too badass to accept help from a ricer. We're all communists you know. Be careful giving jumps. You can screw up your charging system, even if you do it correctly.

blue07, the Electra Glide wasn't anxious to volunteer his battery because it is buried under a hatch lid under the seat, and he'd have to get tools out to get to it. Like you wouldn't, but apparently he couldn't be bothered.

Alg8er...I'm very careful about jumping another bike....usually.Shit...THIS TIME....I friggin forgot to put the negative lead on MY foot pedal...guess where I connected it?Hot lead that comes off the hot terminal and mounts to the frame just under that foreman.FUC&!!!!!Guy says..the 'other one'..."don't you want that negative connected to the ground?"

FUC&!!!!Sheesh...what a friggin idiot I am."Yeah" I says..."sorry"(and connected it to my brake pedal )Talk about feeling STUPID!!!!.Anyway...it didn't like spark or damage anything that I could tell.Rode away with 13.8 showing and 14.0 after riding a while.Got lucky I guess!

Just a update here.I DID have the negative cable connected to the negative ground bolt on my frame(at first). So it was right afterall.I didn't need to reconnect it to the brake pedal as I did.Harleydude threw me off with that one!No harm anyway.

I had a buddy give a jump, everything perfect, had a voltage regulator go out 2 days later. Coincidence? I'm not trying to talk you out of being the "good guy", just sayin'.

Ya...it's all cool.I think these 14's have pretty stout electrical systems.I do know that guys put a lot of aftermarket electrical do dads on these...and the regulators and such seem work fine.Never really heard any different.I do know...when I had to get MINE jumped a few years ago ,I hooked er up to a 12v car battery(that was on a guy's running truck). There was a funky spark on my bike...I don't know where exactly it sparked, but somewhere in the electrical circuit.I remeber thinkin "oh shit...now you've done it".Nothing was damaged...She started okay(it sparked when I turned the key on and cranked her). The battery terminal was broken inside- the battery got me home...but that was it.Done.

The electrical system in the ZX14 isn't particularily "stout" as it doesn't make all that many watts.

I have always jumped connected only to battery terminals.
