for some reason the plunger inside the perch will not let the lever go all the way to the bar. therefore I am getting no pressure when it comes to bleeding the clutch

This may be a stupid question but....

Are you starting with the bleeder on the clutch master cylinder??

You MUST get the air out of there first before you move to the bleeder on the lower left side of the engine.

Dans right. They can be kooky trying to get the air out in the two masters.Couple ways you can mity-vac that line.Tape the lever back.Fill the upper reservoir.Open the bleed valve.Pull the fluid out at the nipple.Keep doing it until there is NO hint of tiny bubbles coming into the mityvac.Now...do the the same at the slave.Same deal.No hint of bubbles.Watch your reservoir...DO NOT LET IT GO EMPTY!.Untie the lever. Now pump up the jams.Still no pressure...do it again.May take a couple of times of back and forth to get er all clear.Air likes to trap under that upper master at the perch.Try tapping that perch with something soft but firm..a rubber mallet or something.May have a few bubbles caught in the lever mechanism.See if they're coming up into the reservoir as you tap on that.Once your lever BEGINS to build pressure...you're home free....but it may take a bit of pumping before she starts to act normal again.

Sometimes bleeding that clutch line is as simple as pie...bleeds right out.Other times...it seems like it's NEVER gonna go right. It's just air in the line...somewhere.It'll work it's way out...be patient.

I did mine a couple nights ago. I had upgraded the line so everything was dry. It took a long time to get the master bled and I thought maybe I was doing something wrong a couple times. I even opened up the bleeder at the clutch and let fluid drain down and thru which it did quite quickly. After that I focused on the master again and yes it'll feel like you need to pull the lever back everytime so just keep going at it. I think it might have taken me anywherte from a half hour to 45 minutes to bleed the clutch line. You gotta remember the clutch is not like the brakes in the respect of resistance felt at the lever. The clutch will get firm but never as tough to move as the brakes because you're not pushing against an immovable object like the brake rotor. If you've spent an hour just bleeding the master then I'd say your doing something wrong or maybe you have a air leak in the line or fitting somewhere. Make sure that res doesn't ever empty either, which is easy to do since it's so tiny.

the plunger inside the perch will not let the lever go all the way to the bar.

A friend of mine just had the same prob. Was a bit of a head scratcher until he told me he had the lever off(ugh). What he had done was rolled the Brass bushing over inside the lever. Easy fix but after bleeding for a half hour I felt stupid. Live and learn I guess.

gods I hate bleeding! got a new bigger an better brake pedal for the buggy that is next on my project list and I just can't wait for that special day. Bleeding VW wheel cylinders tops my list of suicide inducing endeavors!!!! Avoid at all cost!

It's true...I've admitted it numerous times here...I DON'T KNOW SHIT about these bikes.Or ANY for that matter.I'm just wingin it everytime I do a service or check things out on my bird.I don't even use torque values. All by feel.I'll tell ya one thing...anyone listening to me about zx14 service advice uses whatever I mention at their own risk!I think....certainly don't know.....that 5 lbs of torque is about equal to finger tight?IDK.http://youtu.be/SV9-qtKMPVk

I can't (still) figure out how to get vids to post on here.I'm pretty thick.Thick as a brick.

How come Dan has no problem whiff gravity? I smell a rat nesting on the tape wrap, I think I need a snack... WATT is DIS? Mmmmmmmmm, Wire Harness!

I need a finger (once I extract it out of blue's ass), a 10 and the Dan-Know-Wrench in the ointment, I think zink will dew ya, baby hot pants.

Pound one more thread if I post a toast I read it right. You smell a fuse burning? I need that table of blue's extension (pun) enlarger, the titty grabber, the man for man oh man in a kit they have a nipple sucker in automotive style. That is YOUR bench chasing bubble!

Look at the pit setup I have. Say blue's cam sensor screw came out, oiled the track, I slide in the oil; on track day. I brought a master, bars, cable and lever. Blue has front brake problems but I'm not going to tell him a little trick, being, I slid on his birdew. There is only one bench at the park, blue took up most of the space checking out that brake hitting grip.

If I stuck my finger over the master's exit hole first; it's called, 'bench bleeding' my finger tool. Once I remove the stool-of-blue that is. All I did was install the master on the new lever blue broke. Wait, I'm blaming someone else I shoulda caught that blue sheen on the horizon. I have yet to see a shadow of a pump tool at the end of my finger. Well, that master is primed. How you doing with your 3's the charm?

Index and a thumb is the titty tool now. That combination came in because the thumb was enough for the master only. You figure, blue, first tired the penis enlarger matching my thumbulleanHA an shit. We move onto the hose connected to the master, then close the index/thumb action on that end of the line. How many fingers do I have up? How many tools did blue bring to do the same process?

Blue is picking up one idea after the other, we have to sit through dis post is toast his ass with all the bedroom toys. Meanwhile, my two fingers are out of my ears [he does it his way], I select another way. We should be even up; I connected master to hose, hose to caliper to the [link] where I just pump and pump no bubbles out the caliper; close it I'm done.

And obtw, don'tell blue about pressing pucks back up the line is one purge does the trick you want a lever back. And if it worked that well with the brake lever, a clutch purge is next in line for the same push home in it's carrier. I find that the internals need a burp every now and then. And [hatrick] is without a nipple moved... Say nothing to no one.

Hub quit talking about nipples, your gonna get Romans all hot and bothered again.

But I hear ya. If I were to bleed that master with my finger like I do with my master on my old VW then my bike would be a bloody mess and I'd be making sailors blush. The bike ends up a mess as it is. lol
And I'm surprised you don't take this opportunity to show off your youtube video of bleeding brakes with a dildo. Definitely a must see. lol
