Yes. Both GenI and GenII have the same O/D size at the gasket. Therefore, you can swap any year OEM muffler(s) to either year of I/II Gen headers.
So, I run a GenI header with GenII mufflers as we speak. Aftermarket slips are no different. Any brand slip for any year = Fits 2006 to 2010.

gen 2 headers are 1/8" larger at mid pipe connection point

Gen1:
1. The header has no cat honeycomb.
2. Each muffler has a cat = 2 Cat/Converters.
3. Mid-Gasket has a smaller inner diameter [but same outer diameter as gen2] because there is no cat in the header, only the pipes for years '06 ~ '07.
4. Use a Gen2 header with Gen1 mufflers. The trick is the mid-gasket to swap any combination you choose.
Gen2:
1. This header has the cat installed. Increased the pipe a smidgen larger in proportion to keep the air equally flowing like the non-cat header of the Gen1.
2. Each muffler still contains a cat. Add that proportion to the header = 3 Cat/Converters.
3. Mid-Gasket had to increase the O/D to expand that header tip in proportion as well. The I/D of the mid-gasket remains the same = Any Gen muffler fits inside the gasket.
4. Use Gen1 header with your Gen2 exhaust.
For some reason, say you need an exhaust pipe header. You see one on ebay, wanna ride so bad, it's not your year. The question is:
1. Will it work? Yes.
2. Will I lose performance? How so? The proportion? Line up a bunch of straws and blow in as many you can. Did that not flow, it backed up your lungs? No, you will not lose performance you swap either header.
3. Will a muffler work from 2006 to 2010? Yes.
4. Will I gain or lose any performance? If half a horse is either way, then yes. The bikes run the same rating, give or take a pound of torque.
5. Someone has a pair of slips that are not for my year. Can I buy those even though the description says otherwise? Yes, it was just poor research to sell to a wider audience who many not know one pipe year from the other.
6. So, all I have to do is remember to order my mid-gasket, the one I have is all wobbly in the header or does not fit in the header, it's too big [the gasket came with the part]. Then, yes, simply change to the different part number mid-gasket. Your year bike will say use this gasket. You order the other gasket and the parts will now fit perfect.
7. You mean to tell me I can get back on the bike, use a Muzzy slip with a Yoshit, I didn't know that. Well, now you do. You know why?
Kind of figured it out with 3 exhaust systems I have here to play with.

hey thanks for you're help! I picked up an 08 Yoshi slip on for my bike..it was a killer deal, brand new for $450. I haven't put it on yet because we are getting crushed with snow in ohio and I can't pull the stuff out of my garage to work on it. So if I need to get that gasket to make it fit on my 07, I would get it from an 08 bike, right?? Anyways thanks for the help

If you change the header from year to year, then yes; not the outer muffler parts like any stock can or any slip. All slips fit the O/D. Remember, your [header] hose end is smaller without the cat. The increase is so small, now the hose end of the header is a bit wider to compensate the same flow with the honeycomb insert.

I have a '08 and I want to put TI Force '06-07 slip ons. This is what TI Force told me.
Hello Sir,
thank you very much for your inquiry.
We did a minor change on the tail pipe for the pipe from 08 year and after, so the pipe for '06-07 can't fit to the '08 and after model. (pipe diameter has no trouble, but the tail pipe bracket which welded on the tiforce tailpipe will be obstruct from the '08 year model).
thanks for your attention,
Prepare to Win with TiForce!

Any thoughts why???

MrO/DaSameHere: Yes operator, reverse the charge Is that You, cot?
catiyama: Cat sir, catch the email I sent you?
MrO/D: D'uh yeah.
catiyawn: Well?
MrO/D: Oh Dear, might one make a bracket off the Ti a yellow ribbon on the back somehow are a used pair?
catiyama: Shit man, you want more info from me?
MrO/D: Are you kidding? Dis is the net with gaping holes to fill and now fill in the blank.
catiyama: They are used.
MrO/D: I have no clue or does a clue start with every part on the bike has the same mold but different color.
catiyama: Does that mean the bracket won't fit because of the color?
MrO/D: Hey, you and Ti have a running problem with moles made and colors applied are the same old outside parts is parts.
catiyama: OK, they are new slips:
MrO/D: Then slip them on, bracket a re-bracket whatever they changed, they sure did not change a part on the bike as far as I can tell?
catiyama: I don't want to go thru any flimsy mods for some brackets. Maybe I'll pull more wallet and buy the already made bracket for that year they are talking about.
MrO/D: Well, you show me both brackets on both years they are talking about and they may be confused as I am, they relay that info to you.

Probably in two weeks COOTER as it's a luv job from work to get it rewelded up then im plugging the left side to make it into 4-1 as the pre-cat caverty is big compared to the 06-07 one, so to keep the backpressure up! im only using the right end Leo-Vince side slip-on .

This is a great thread but unfortunately its not entirely true. I have a 07 zx14 and after reading this thread, I was convinced a Vance and Hines CS1 would fit my bike. V&H offers the exhaust ONLY for years 08 and higher.
After removing my old exhaust and trying to ensure I didn't mess up the gaskets, I then unpacked the CS1 and inspected the end that would attach to the headers - thinking I would be putting the gaskets in the pipes. The gaskets off the stock mufflers will NOT fit on the CS1. The CS1 is designed to NOT use gaskets. Therefore the ends are just a bit larger and when placed on the header, there is a considerable amount of slop.
The CS1 already has a slot in it. My fix was to cut a few additional slots and then basically torqued down the band clamp that came with the exhaust. This essentially squeezed the muffler pipes onto the smaller diameter header ports.

I had wondered about that VH slip as well.I ended up getting the TiForce.BUT....the tiforce people say that their slip-ons...the ones I bought..do not have a header(titanium)that can be used to make a full exhaust package.Sounds a tad hokey to me.WHY wouldn't they have a full header for this model of Muffler...it comes with a full package if you buy it "full".Doesn't make ANY sense to me....they don't want to make money selling headers for this deal? How different can it possibly be?The slips we NOT inexpensive either.Could have bought a complete exhaust system for what I gave for these two mufflers(they ARE very nice however...very nice.)
