Yoshi's on
02/27/14 2:08 AM

Hi guys and gals
My yoshimura R77 stainless/carbon slip-ons arrived today. Installed them this evening (super easy - felt like a factory fit). Took it for a cursory run to test and for those that are interested here is my opinion:

Sound: Deep and punchy at idle (makes you think they will be too loud), once moving the sound levels out and is more than acceptable for a long ride. Louder yes, but really the sound is just deeper.
Peformance: Definitely spins up faster, feels perkier, especially pre 6,000 rpm.
Weight: I felt the weight of each pipe and although they are not the lightest, they are a lot lighter than stock.
Overall impression: Happy
Sorry for the picture quality - my shed is pretty full of junk at the present.
Happy and safe riding fellow Ninja's

Had (carbon) R77's on mine. They were all the things you said. Then I got constantly pelted by rocks and I shattered the carbon wrap and replaced them. Moved to a different system. I had one other complaint - the mid pipe had a fabricated dent so that it would not contact kick stand. Unfortunately this design flaw cost 2hp. Beyond that great little set up.

You get the dualies?

Nice. I just scored a pretty good deal on a set of carbons the other day.

I actually like the sound of the stock exhaust. I guess I'm getting old! Wanted the looks and the weight savings of slip ons.

I guess I'll see if they're too loud. Didn't they come with inserts to make then Yosh's even quieter?

I thought my Two Brothers were too loud until I let someone else ride it.Seems my helmet was amplifying the sound (to my ears).Still put the inserts in but may take them back out because it was nowhere near as loud as what I "thought" they sounded like.Cheaper ($120ish) helmet may be to blame for that as it lets in a LOT of air from underneath which also makes it a huge pain in the a** in cold weather.

I have the same pipes and the Akra headers. they help the sound and performance as well.. I wish they were a little louder actually.

And for the helmet, I have an Arai, love it... have been buying them for years.... pricey but worth if you ask me. I might try a Shoei Air.
