power commander 5 retro-fit by Fuel Moto

Just did the PC 5 , full Muzzy M-14, Ivans block off kit, BMC filter and Muzzy fan on my 08 ZX 14. Feels like a new ride. BTW I left the flys in and do get an occasional small pop when letting off throttle around 3500 rpm. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

I take it you are happy with the PC5? I have been contemplating doing it on an '06, but keep talking myself out of it.

Ron, The bike feels much stronger. Although I didnt try the mods without the PC5. I've done business with Fuel Moto before and always been happy with their price and service. I might try it with the flies out later.

Get rid of the BMC filter next air filter change and go back to the OEM filter. It won't make any difference in your performance and the OEM filter works perfectly for less money.

Apparently you put the Muzzy aluminum fan blade on yours? I got one myself, and trimmed it to fit, and even balanced it, and in the end, put the stock plastic blade on because I couldn't feel any difference in air volume moved while running it off a 12 volt power supply at my work bench.

I'm guessing the aluminum fan blade puts more drag on the fan motor, because it used a very small amount more of amps than the plastic blade. This might wear the motor out sooner. Probably not.

I went ahead and got a second fan unit from Schnitz Racing and wired it parallel to my primary fan. Works great. Also since I completely drained the cooling system when I had the radiator off, I used Engine Ice. Also seems to help.

I was lucky, My fan fit without trimming and seems to move more air than the stocker. My temp gauge has droped a full bar too. Probably because of the exhaust and getting a few miles on her as much as anything. I just picked up the bike a few months ago as a new leftover and it splits my ride time with three other bikes right now. The BMC street filter seems to have a better seal than stock but I really bought it for its re-useability more than performance. I understand that most paper filters clean better than the so called aftermarket filters. I also just picked up some Rotella 5-40 synthetic to try in the 14 and Duc as the Mobil ones just got ridiculous at $10 a quart and oil rarely stays in one of our bikes for more than a couple thousand miles. Again thanks for the info on the 14.

The real benefit of the aluminium fan is shown at speed, the stock plastic fan blades straighten out somewhat because of air speed and heat distortion and and become less effective, while the aftermarket fan blades stay in place and are not affected by heat or air nearly as much.

makes sense , except they dont run hot at speed its when your at idle in traffic that they heat up.

Too right scottjkl; but oem fan it's only when in summer (australia) we all bypass us much of the city as we can, my black/birds thermal/fans only came on in bad traffic ! it should be the same on all warmer days with any water cooled engines, sounds logical to me anyway ? Also I asked my dyno/tuner man if I could keep the oem airfilter with the pcv (last week) he asked why ? I replied There only good for tracksdays,I've heard they don't filter the grit ,they only filter leaves and sticks,he replied not a problem makes no differance to the mapping. I just don't want to gamble on it anyway
