Ninja No More
05/26/09 10:57 AM

Being hassled by the family yesterday about being old. Seems to them that only old people buy beemers and the ninja is to fast for an old man. Simple fix was to get rid of the ninja so I pulled out the hairdwyer (yes folks I may be old but I still have my hair), heated up the "ninja" stickers and removed them.

Now I have a "Ninja No More". It is now a lowly but humble ZX14 that is not to fast for an old man.

Simplicity is the only way to fix things

Later == Bobby

I don't think the 14 is going anywhere. I have given it a heated/cooled gayrage free of rent. Shelves full of a quality liquid diet for its innards, can be king of the lift if it wants and when it feels like stepping up into powerlifting I will buy it its own PC5 gym and accessories.
All that I do for it and the payback is to make sure I get tickets.

I started to remove the ninja sticker cold and it didn't want to give... so I left it alone until such time that I have enough time and patience to go at it with a hair drier.

I think the 'Ninja' word is outdated and no longer a 'cool' name to add to this line of motorcycles.

Actually, my theory is that the a big reason why ZX14 is somewhat under-appreciated by the general masses out there is that it doesn't have a 'cool' sounding name like 'hayabusa' does. A simple 'ZX14' melts this bike into a sea of other 'ZX' bikes and doesn't give it the recognition it deserves.

B-King, Hayabusa, Vmax... Kawasaki can learn a thing or two in marketing from Suzuki and Yamaha.

I too thought the NINJA designation was way cool at one time. I've met cops who think that anything with a NINJA sticker is ridden by an anarchistic speed freak. But Kawasaki is now making 500cc entry level bikes with NINJA on them. I wasn't to thirlled when someone mistook my ZX6R for a beginner's bike. (Qualifying times at Infineon last week had the ZX6R less than a second behind the big Suzukis.) But, back to the point, the ZX14 is definitely a step beyond tho old NINJA moniker. My sticker is coming off with my new paint job.
I did see a sticker on line which said Ninja in Japanese characters. I was thinking it was maybe a good add but I also don't want to be confused with a Busa. The Busa owners are getting a little like HD guys with a superiority complex. I do have to admit, though, it's hard to ride a 14 and not feel a little superior myself.
I had to appease my family by promising to stop riding sport bikes as soon as I get old. At lesat I can still keep the back tire on the ground.

The ZX-14 IS a Ninja. I would NEVER desecrate my bike for anyone by yanking the "ninja" stickers off of it!
