Great Deal on bt016's
04/07/09 9:15 AM

Best deal I've seen on tires in a while. Just thought that I'd pass the link along.
http://www.zx-10r.net/forum/showthread.php?t=72660

The bt016's the best tires I've ever run... give 'em a try... you will like 'em!

NICE. I see they have multi surface thread for cornering. How does the center ware compared to stock tires? Also, how much would I be saving compared to ordering a front and back that are not on sale?

Doesn't look like a deal to me. This website will do $250 shipped, and Cycle Gear does a $199 plus mounting (but add $30 for shipping) about 2 times a year.

Thanks for the thread though.

I know CG's deal was about $20 cheaper, but haven't seen that deal since December (even then the stones were gone FAST and they subbed Pirellis but not the comparable C3's), and who knows if or when they'll have that deal again. Also, they never offered a deal on the 190/55/17.

Rook, you'd save about $50-$60 plus shipping compared to most listed prices for these tires. Since I seem to order 2-3 sets of tires at a time, that's quite a bit of $$$.
These things are way stickier than the stockers, so you do sacrafice some longevity. For me, however, the wear was much more even edge to center than it was with the stockers. Also, my front and rear wore out at the same rate. Which I really like since I've always replaced them both at the same time anyway.

Thanks, Dogo. I'm getting 'em. I'll run the stockers bald and have the bt016's ready to replace.

Would you please explain the difference between the 180 and the 190? It has to do with the fatness of the tire, correct? Has some effect on cornering, does it?

Yeah Rook, the 180 is skinnier, which would help diving into corners, but sacrafice some of the contact patch. Personally. I woould not run the 180.
The 190/55 has a taller profile, which would help diving into corners, without sacraficing the contact patch. I've never run a 190/55, but I know Mass does and loves it. Catch is the taller rear will throw off your speedo. I have a healer so no worries.
I thought they had the 190/50, our stock size, listed yesterday. I dunno, we hit 70 degrees here yesterday so my focus was elsewhere. I asked how much for the 190/50 on that thread but they usually respond with PM's. I'll post the price here if and when they get back to me.

These speedos are 8 percent fast anyway so a taller tire would work to correct the speedo some.

Good prices for shipped tires. :thumbup

I have BT016's on my bike and the difference was instantly noticeable compared to stock tires. I am very happy with them and probably will not change to another tire.

This is my rear with a 190/55 Pilot Powers 2 CT... not really a Bridgestone guy.

The 55 is around 10 mm taller than the 50 in the 190 width- gives you a better lean
angle and a large contact surface while leaned.

Just add a tooth on the rear to compensate for it. Or if you run
a 16 front, you might actually be able to keep it on two wheels.

Thanks all. ^^I can see the Pilot Power 190/55s have a rounded top which transitions into a flat side tread. Makes sense. Don't know if I'd like to lean it quite that hard but nice to know I have plenty of rubber on the ground if I did. IMO, the typical 180 degree round tire tread like on the stocks looks better. Do the bto16 190/55s have the flat side tread, or are they round across the tread?

Bike Bandit is selling the BT016s now for about 247 for both, with a 190/50 rear, plus shipping (not sure how much, didn't add to cart to see).

I imagine there are decent deals at many retailers, considering how bad the economy is.....

I did! Yesterday they were $225 (+$15 or $25).
They raised the price!
Suckers! That's what I get fo not just ordering immediately.

Thanks for the link, Junkie.
Wish they said what model of each brand they were testing though.

I just ordered a dunlop roadsmart for 152 shipped. I thought that was a pretty good price. I think I would go through the bt016 to quickly. make sure to report back how you liked the bstones.

jorgen, you can't go wrong with either tire. i've got the 190/55 bto16 on the 14 and i've got the 180/55 on my 636. the roadsmart is probably going to last longer than the bridestone, but for corner carving the winner would be the bto!

i used bikebandit.com because they do have the best prices and i don't have to pay their shipping fees :)
