I lost 100 lbs. my senior hs year. Real work beats gym "work" 1000-1. Chop wood, dig a hole, carry buckets, etc... uses your whole body instead of trying to target every muscle one at a time. There's a reason a lot of "workouts are now including kettles, ropes, tires.... My experience and opinion.

Before your criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do criticize them, you're a mile away and have their shoes.

If you never took off stock 14 or 14R mufflers you never saw this!"

The Gen1 also has a dent in the midpipe to allow clearance for the frame (or something). It's not as gnarly as that but still looks a bit awkward.

LOL yeah, I've seen lots of pics. I'm surprised that they can't actually just fix this problem instead of pounding them in with a sledge!

Mine is one of the worst examples I've seen though.

Congrats that's a lot of weight. The most important for someone that wants to shed weight, get in better shape, etc., is just to do something. In a lot of ways I agree with you, but lets face facts unless someone's got a couple hundred acres, or manual labor for a job it's difficult to stay busy just doing stuff.

Also keep in mind body's are like anything else, they break down especially with hard use. Doing stuff at 17-18 yo is a lot different than when you're 40. I'm sure in 10 years, and 20 years I'll be saying the same thing about 40.

Uuntil about 3-4 years ago even being 270-290 lbs I was healthy. A yearly exam my BP was great (like 120/80), my blood sugar was <100 (normal), cholesterol was fine. Then over 2-3 years I didn't change anything (in fact in some ways increased my activity) but my BP was up to 150s/90s, my blood sugar was high pre-diabetic, and bad cholesterol going up and good cholesterol going down. That's what trigged what I'm doing now. Honestly, I didn't care about being fat and 280 lbs (I did have some concern about knees and other joints. But I don't want to be 60 and be on a dozen medications and then trying to do then, what I'm doing now. And hell, as I mentioned earlier, as different as I am from 10 years ago physically I can't imagine at 60 doing what I'm doing now.

I assumed they must have some sort of die they press the pipe in with so they're all the same. Yeah, you'd think they'd figure out a way to fit the pipe under there without squashing it. The aftermarket pipes do and they're usually bigger diameter.

Vic, that is knocked in for the centerstand option. You have no loss out of that crease as far as power. Dual exhaust and one fire pulse has found the easiest way out like electricity finds the fastest way to ground, etc.

I took a peek at mine and is as dented, but no in length. I'd run it.

Hub, what are your thoughts on cutting off the frame bosses where the center stand bolts up? I don't know if the frame is solid aluminum. I figure if it's solid I can't see those bits that stick out at the bottom doing much except adding weight. Other than belly pan and center stand, is there any other purpose for those bosses?

Any one's input is appreciated. I imagine someone like Rook might also be interested in this possibility.

I wasn't too worried about performance or anything regarding the banged up pipes. It's just surprising to most people, including myself, when I first learned about it.

Vic, Look at it as a sales clinker. If they were there, the next owner wanted a stand he'd have no issues. Going after those two hoops is not worth the time and you play those odds with the next buyer. And that is the dealer looking over the bike and catches the mod. Chase a belt buckle notch if you are looking for weight loss. That's my main problem.

I'm old so I bought the centerstand for chain lube and tire work.

I appreciate what you're trying to do. I'm aware of the things you're stating. Let those not be concerns. Any modifications can lower value. Any modifications can be undone, it's a matter of cost. Even $3,000 paint job that adds no value and probably kills resale can be undone, probably around what it cost.

With weight loss, unless they are already minimal weight, is the cheaper or whatever alternative. Certainly 1 lb of fat is cheaper than all titanium hardware at about $2000 (plus all the time for installation). My exhaust cost about $42/lb, looking at it from a weight reduction standpoint. Think about how much carbon fiber wheels cost...for what about 10 lbs of weight? Yet people do it.

My question is that crossmember the bosses are part of solid or boxed (hollow). The way I see it is, if that's a solid casting those bosses are in no way structural. If it's boxed then they'd be part of the structure. Where it sits and what it does, it's hard to believe it would be boxed. Hell that whole crossmember might be able to come out, that would be a good chunk of weight if it were solid. It could very well be it's only purpose is to support the centerstand's purpose.
