@ Snuffy: I'm also confused. Green's bike and yours are between 188 HP (lowest number I have seen for a stock R) to 196 hp. My bike is supposedly a 180 hp bike and way lighter. Green was trying to tell us that from his s o t pants feeling, his 14R was a lot more violent in the acceleration department!!!!!!!
I really don't want to go back there but I had to clarify. If his 14 R had an alien and o w oil, you had a point but...

I have read on BL that the o w was good for 10 hp! Are you guys going to use that? so that's about 209 hp without (4 more than Seno). That being said, when Brocks get done with it I'm sure we will see something around 225hp but because of the oil, c bearing, etc 210 ish hp will probably be the norm for ZX-14R owners, which is still a nice number!
The first generation made 189 hp with ct duals on Brock's dyno, I have yet to see one that made 189 hp in the same condition minus the all c bearing and chain... The numbers for 1 generation with CT duals vary between 175hp-185hp.

Ok back to the topic 219 hp!!!!!

Dragking wasn’t Green’s gen1 near stock? If not what were the mod’s done? Because I guarantee if you go from a stock 07 to a stock 12 you will notice a large increase and lets say he had all the mod’s you have on yours making 180HP to the rear on his 07 and the 12 stock is making 196HP (best case scenario) that’s a 16HP increase and that 16HP makes up for the extra 20LBS (or whatever it gained) making his STOCK 12 just as fast as his MODIFIED 07 and that’s not mentioning the -3LBS of rotating mass of the new rims now he is thinking how fast it will be after mod’s so now my question to you is have you ridden a 2012 and if you would have the same thought process?

@ Cooter. Yes Green 07 was near stock, that's why we didn't jump on the wagon when he said the 14R was out of this world. We tried to tell him that it was because his bike was stock that he noticed such a huge difference. That somehow came out as an insult. The guy jumped from 162 hp to at least 190!!!!!
I think the weight of the wheels really matter when stoping and changing direction. Slow (I think) installed BST's and saw tiny gains at the strip. My thought on that is the at 3000 rpm the 14 makes so much tq that it doesn't care about the weight of the wheels and once you get something round turning the energy required to keep it turning...
But yes 180 hp to 196 hp is a big jump. That being said you have to ask yourself at what point in the RPM range does the 14R compensate for her weight and out accelerate my modded 14. No, I have not yet rode the 14R just like Green never rode my bike. Nevertheless, all my opinions came from drag strip, dyno numbers, model specification (wheelbase) etc.
About your last question... I will tell you this, I'm hard to please. I think the acceleration on the bike would have definitely put a smile on my face (the tq is insane) but after a while I would have noticed differences like the fact that instead of passing 2 cars in x seconds I can pass 2.5 cars and those numbers don't really matter to me. You can't say I got rear ended by that car cause I was running minus 16 hp if you follow the though process. That's why I'm getting ready to splurge on $4000 rims instead of trading my 1st generation and upgrading. I think that it's a statement. I have got to do too much to a 14 before I'm satisfied and in my tax bracket 14 grand for a bike that I'm going to mod right away is too much. Regarding the new suspension, I can't say for sure but I will be surprised if they outdid my "tailored" ohlins. That's not a big deal for a 170 lbs jockey but at 225 lbs it makes a huge difference to me.

that’s a 16HP increase and that 16HP makes up for the extra 20LBS

* forgot about that statement!
The new model in stock form is 584 lbs I think. The previous model 567 and the 06 had 11 lbs less? Just with my exhaust mod, I lost about 30 lbs and gained 20 hp. With the new bike Green gained a little less than 30 lbs and 30 hp. Let's put ET's at the drag strip aside for now. Let's talk s o t pants. What feels better - 30lbs + 20hp or +30lbs +30hp? That being said, I don't think anybody can say I was ecstatic when I did the mod. Satisfied would be more suited. So if that didn't do it, I doubt the new bike in stock form will! Now put me on Brock's blue 14R with the Alien H and I'm going to change my mind. But I like I said before that kind of happiness will cost me too much $$.

why not turbo for $4,000 you can get a stage 2 and still run pump gas and kill ZX-14R's without a problem!!!!
But I like I said before that kind of happiness will cost me too much $$.

I decided health insurance for me and my wife was a better option than the ZX-14R that’s why I’m trying to win one off Rickey Gadson!
@Green Do you plan on going to the drag strip with your new bird just to see what #’s you can put down?

+1 to Cooter for thinking straight about putting family first.

I think everyone with pre-2012 ZX14s should bug A&A Performance to kit up a supercharger. He won't do it unless enough people say they will buy one.

This would really be a "ZX14R" killer. Lighter, 225+ horsepower in mild tune on 89 octane pump gas, and for the cost, easily 3x as much +HP per dollar than buying the new bike if you consider the purchase price a sunk cost.

And if you really just have to have the 2012 seat, buy the seat, already.

I heard stage 2 is reliable and has good drivability but would like to see a supercharger for the 14. Before I get into that I would like to get more miles in and get a second bike. I wanna make her as light as I can and when there is nothing else I can do in that department maybe get in the motor. Big gains in hp is not a priority at the moment... Even if I was seating on 220 hp right now I would be wondering about how I can gain more. Speed is a vice! Better handling, ABS and other cool gizmos is what I'm waiting to see in the 14R. This way I would be able to use the 06 at the drag (If I decide to get into that) and use the 14R for commuting and touring with the wife.

I decided health insurance for me and my wife was a better option than the ZX-14R that’s why I’m trying to win one off Rickey Gadson!

It's a wise choice Cooter! Smoke them all

Nope Coot...no dragstrip for me.Just fast azz carving when I can.

You know....I've been reading some of these posts about getting the new bike and all...and reasons not to.Seems to me like for most,it's the price tag that's stopping you...and I don't mean...YOU as in personal here.Whoever...that's what I mean.I wonder here...several guys would love to get this new machine.Personally,I get it.But have any considered....trading any of their nice bikes for a cut in out-the -door price on the 14R?

IDK...maybe I'm just strange....but I've always ridden my bikes to the fullest, and then traded up.I guess I'm just really simplistic when it comes to having 'things'.IF I had kept my 07...I'd never be riding it again. Not with my new one.WHY would I?....I'm just musing here. Not telling anyone what to do or anything.Just thinking out loud. Some of you have REALLY SWEET 14's....you could get a very nice trade up.That's all...no cut intended towards anyone. Not implying anyone should or shouldn't do anything.I'm very happy with the new 14.VERY.I hope all of you can at least get to a dealer and just ride one for the heck of it.Not to go buy one or anything...but just to see how the new bike is.Kawasaki has outdone themselves with this one. She's a VERY unique motorcycle.Truly in a class by herself.

+1 on the supercharger I’d rather have a supercharger than a turbo it’s just my style and Green every day I wish I had a second bike just in case something happened to my ZX-14 so I don’t have to walk to work but I am just very thankful that my ZX is so reliable!

Hey dragking actually my bike has 197hp right off the show room floor according to kawasaki...but that 1 extra hp dosent really matter one way or another.

As far as accleration goes I just got in from a run on my 14R and was actually thinking while I was out and about that my 07 with the flies out and Brocks dual CT and map never came close to pulling like my new bike...It just feels like 2 different animals.

As far as making a point I didnt intend too and wasnt trying too....I was just very amused with your following statement:

Power wise I didn't think we were going to see pass 210 hp, 220hp and just starting is insane
it's going to be a sad day for the busa at the drag Strip

So Now I'm Confused....If the bike is so much Fatter weight wise and not much more powerful than the previous models 06-11 than why will the busa have such a sad day at the drag strip?

I'm with Grn about being "simplistic". A 14 is insanely fast. I'm not throwing $10K into a bike that I can't ride to its limit when its stock. I love the 14's torque but it carves curves like a samurai sword even though its heavy. I just got the 14R and even though it is heavier, it steers much ligher than my 07. The thing feels like a liter bike. I'm dead serious and I street rode/raced one for 4 years. It's crazy what Kaw did with the 14R. I suggest you guys borrow a friend's and then tell us what you think. The bike is a masterpiece.

It's funny how this question always comes back. Remember I'm comparing the 14R stock with my modded 14. So yeah the bike is much fatter and has only 17 hp on mine. Now, when I made that statement I was comparing a drag strip modded busa to Brock's 14R (which is the subject of this thread), and there is no match! Just like there is no match between mine and that bike! Now I believe you when you tell me the 14R pulls like no other but when you compare the numbers modded 14 are running with the stock R's it doesn't add up. I just would like to get an explanation out of curiosity. I would like to look at dyno charts again... it could be the tq that gives a different feeling?! I felt more "power" from flies out than when I got the duals. I signed up for the good times street demo next month so hopefully I'll be able to try it.
As far as handling like a liter... I doubt it. Cycle world praised the 14R but said she still doesn't handle like a busa! When you consider the comfort factor though I can live with it.

I totally agree I felt a much better gain from flies removal than I did with the Duals install but combined she was a new more powerful bike thats for sure.

"Cycle world praised the 14R but said she still doesn't handle like a busa!"

"The thing feels like a liter bike. I'm dead serious and I street rode/raced one for 4 years".

I don't remember seeing any Busa's OR 14's at too many tracks.I've ridden a Busa...an 08.New at that time.Through some fast curves and such.Definitely didn't outperform my 07.Not even.And his was piped,powercommandered and mapped.One rider...two different bikes.Same style.Same speeds,same roads.Same day.

"outperforming a 14"...PFFFFT!Who cares anyway.Gent up there just said the new bike feels like a literbike....if he said it...that's what he meant.Someone's gonna argue and say "wrong...you're wrong".WTF is with people.LMAO!!!!

Gotta say...there's more doubting Thomas's on this forum than ANY place I've ever looked.Too funny!!!!!!Get the Busa....you'll be glad you didLOLOLOL!!!It comes standard with a STEERING DAMPER...that oughtta tell ya she's mean mean mean, right?

Just to be fair....suspension setup,tires...those things could have been playing the 'factor' for sure. His felt stiff and fidgety...like it was gonna flip flop the frontend while leaned in and powering through.Mine felt stable and planted...no weird quirkiness going on from the frontend in any of the same circumstances(my 07).IDK....they're both excellent roadbikes.

The new 14R is just...well...

Read my "140 miles of bliss" post. I rode a friend's stock 08 Busa several times and liked the bike. He rode my 07 ZX-14 and liked mine a lot more. He dropped the Busa soon after. I kept my 14. lol

I read the Cycle World statement about Busa handling better. I've had my 14R for 3 days and let make it clear. The Busa does not handle as well as the 14R. Not even close IMO. The 14R rips curves with EASE. The Busa takes more work and it doesn't have TC so you can't twist the throttle exiting a corner like you can on a 14R. Put the 14R in TC "1" and get to work. It flicks like a mofo and I am sooooooo happy that it does. Right up my alley. LMAO!!!

I can't wait to put the 14R on the track to see how it performs on a technical course. I'm confident it will do very well because my 07 felt damn good. I suggest kats ride the new joint and make up their own minds. Every rider is different. The 14R may not be for everyone but most who ride it will love it. I guarantee you!

Yep....I tried to tell em!What do I know?I think I mentioned early on....the new bike handles WAY different than previous models.Naturally....I got flamed(which is cool really, everything worth anything is tried in the fire) .I don't care...some of us are havin a real BLAST with our new 14's.Excellent post there Curvekilla.Just excellent!

Kinda funny really..I re-read that Cycle world Busa 'mention'....IDK if anyone really looked at that write up the "editor-in chief' gave...but you'll notice...he's standing next to his beloved silver Busa. His write up was about the BUSA...NOT the 14R.Read it again whomever.....The two REAL riders there....they gave the real deal on the 14R.Editor in chief...PFFFFTT!Keep yer Busa

Read it. Good review Killa! The handling issue on the 14 or 14R could just be a rider weight issue. If I remember correct.. the zx-10R shocks aren't ideal on the 1000RR it's the forks. Could be something similar with the 14 and busa. I heard the busa shock isn't the greatest and the 14 forks used to give me that vague feeling numerous guys experienced. At the end of the day, if you can follow a busa on a 14 (R) it's probably your fault not the bike. I'm exited to try the 14R. What color did you get?

Tell ya the truth...of the Busa's I've run up here....THEY were tryin to keep up with me....(on my tired 07)I had to pull over and stop and ask em..."are you okay?" Their answers...."man,you're having too much fun on that thing"...I'll never forget that
I'm excited for ya too Dragking.
