To Jag...14Rocketman1...youtube.These vids are quite boring actually. They do however give an average guy looking into average street riding on the new 14 a bit of preview. And some mistakes 'not to do'.It IS after all...the street...with other people on these roads....

You don't suppose MAYBE I should just stop "not using the clutch" do ya?It should be okay to change gears without it,right?

If you can time the engine to the back wheel, you do not need the clutch for any gear nor N. Only need it to take off from a dead stop. The slipper should stop the chatter if you screw up, go out of syn with a lower gear. Up shifts won't matter with the slipper.

I don't believe it's the bike...no way.It's definitely me....something I'm not doing right(or consistently is more like it?

IDK anything about transmissions...the specs on em or whatever...but anyone know or think if that 3-4 shift distance COULD be slightly 'longer' somehow(mechanically)?

Correct; It is not the bike. It is us; It shifts prefect or I mess up with any foot throw. It is more a precision tool. You can hot rod it with a kill type shifter kit at the shift linkage. You want full hand grip for cough-couch speeds. Pulling lever/lifting of throttle is old style.

Grn--do you have a link. I'd love to see it. All about average guy with average street riding:) I'm not sure how I'd find that on Youtube without a link though:)

14Rocketman1...you just go to "youtube"...and enter that into the 'search' window...or...google "14Rocketman1"...that should get ya there.

"Pulling lever/lifting of throttle is old style"...Agree....with one exception...a teensy pulling of the lever produces a VERY NICE GEAR CHANGE.With THIS transmission anyway.Full or partial throttle chop can kinda get in the way...if ya do this deal quick.

Ok gotcha...thought you were responding to someone else named "Rocketman" that also asked how to get to your vid.

Regarding the clutch thing...yes all you should really EVER need is a slight clutch depression. Full clutch pulls are not necessary. If you get good at it and sychro your clutch/throttle its seemless with no notch. On my BMW K1600 anything other than a nudge on te clutch spells sloppy shifting. A very small if any clutch engagement is butter.

Also Grn--where did you mount your go pro for that view? I'll check the full video tonight. Oh yeah...was that vid with your Brock CT Single and Streetmap on it. Not able to turn it up enough to tell here.

Yes... If you lift on the throttle its smooth.

At redline, you pull that tiny bit at that lever, it will cook some clutch. The electrickshift is throttle pinned, no backing off = Lost time you lift. This is spark kill in the milliseconds the moment you touch the contacts. One more reason the R lost to the 10R. If the bike has all the bells and whistles, this is a gotta have.

"where did you mount your go pro for that view?"...well...I don't know WHICH view you're speaking of?

I'm gonna have to practice more on my shift technique...I think Hub's got a very good shift going on.Guess that comes from racing.
